Awesome ride home, apart from the whole flaming battery park thingy, clearly there was a significant tail wind because I felt like I could have taken my feet off the pedals and I still would have kept going
I avg 15mph today over the whole commute both ways, cool 8)Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

A good and bad ride home.
First, the good. I spied Lemond Man passing Embankment tube and duly caught him. We then duelled all the way until the NKR. He *hates* being overtaken. I passed him him out of Parlt Square and he had to overtake. I was passing him after AB and he stamped down on the pedals to stay ahead. And he RLJs or creeeps, at least.
I think I have the measure of this chap now. He's quicker off the mark - well, you would be if you crept at RLs - but I can reel him in. This is the second time in a month this has happened. He's running a bigger gear than me and I had a stonkingly heavy backpack tonight (see below).
I lost him on the NKR when he RLJed. Ho hum. But there were other roadies, and I had o keep a high pace all the way to Richmond. All with this heavy backpack. So, now for the bad.
I effectively "bonked" about a mile from home; completely ran out of steam. Got home and had to sit down before downing two of those For Goodness Shakes and gently eating a mini baguette. I've had two bananas, two smoothies, a kiwi fruit and a bowl of soup plus water all day because of this sodding tooth and it just wasn't enough. More bananas before I leave work next time. :roll:FCN 2-4.

Super warm and toasty in my long's. My road and little unused one near work were a tad dodgy but all others gritted and free from slush. Only thing I gotta fix is my front mudguard which today has given me a tasteful brown polka dot jerseyLe Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

Like wise - sweating when I got to the office - harder work because of deep snow but felt less slippery - still snowing here0

I wimped out this morning. Combination of snow and that I have a dinner to go to tonight and had to bring my suit in. The main roads looked pretty good and i saw a few cyclists out.
Last night was a weird commute. I had no energy what-so-ever and also felt unsafe the whole way home, bizarre. Everyone else seemed to be loving it and i got scalped by all sorts. I also had a big wobble when the front wheel nearly went. My f'ing ribs are playing up AGAIN - breaking ribs is a bloody pain, they keep flaring up. Probably good that i am having a rest day.0 -

the roads outside my house look dangerous, so after a sleep in and some procrastinating I headed in and the roads cleared up nicely past beckenham but there was no one to pass at all..
I saw some roadies going the other way early on waves all round kudos for a good portion of MTFUPurveyor of sonic doom

There must be some variation in the gritting mixtures as the main roads down in Carshalton were gritted but still with plenty of black slush of varying depths. Really didn't fancy falling off in that, or having to strip my bike down for the umpteenth time this evening so bottled out and opted for the Southern Railway lottery. Not even the consolation of some pedestrian SCR this morning.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

The Park was great. Dropped a knobblied-up mtb like a hot rock through the snow.
All other roads were fine. Just a bit wet. Bit of tit-for-tat with a SS on Embankment, but came out on top.FCN 2-4.

I looked outside this morning and saw about 1cm of the white stuff and so got the tube. It took twice as long as a regular commute.
I now feel dirty and ashamed, I'm very, very, very sorry."Bed is for sleepy people.

Spent breakfast swapping between tyre levers and a spoon whilst I swapped the 25's for the original tyres that came with the Tricross and pumped them a little too hard and had to stop mid-ride to drop them down to 30psi which made the footprint bigger but didn't work on the ride home on clear but wet roads. Found some fresh virgin snow when I got to work and it was asking for first tyring(?), spent 10 mins riding in the 4" deep snow with the cranks making impressions every 3m.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Commuted by foot this morning. Took over an hour, but only marginally longer than the bus took yesterday morning. Sheet ice across roads and pavements. No buses and hardly any cars. A few taxis, driving as if there was no ice. And a surprising number of bikes. Kudos to their riders 8)
However it didn't stop the SCR. Lost count of the wobbly-legged scalps0 -
Nice quiet ride in this am - schools are closed so no SRMs to contend with - bit slow but selt safer than the ice we've had over the last couple of days 8)0

We do. It's the stuff that stops you racking up those SC Stat miles. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

The number of friends and acquaintances looking outside and muttering/telling me I'm a nutter is rising steadily. One of the other cyclists here has bottled the ride home with "I can't see in that stuff"Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

My colleagues all using IM to tell me I'm a nutter; none of them made it in!
Much more snow, and I may actually get the benefit of the gigantic knobblies I dragged all the way along Embankment this morning :-)Pannier, 120rpm.0 -
Just arrived home (on foot) after being sent home early for the 2nd day on the run, cos the roads and public transport are up sh!t creek. Quite impressed that the whole of my office made it in today, even those who live out in the sticks.
I love this weather0 -
