Being likely it was JG he does do that with annoying regularity and as you say ease... Even after a few pints, wine and whisky...

I'm clinging to the Beeb's current forecast of grey cloud and 8mph easterly... never works out like that though, does it?0 -

Heh heh, fair amount of activity this morning. Just been out on the mtb to the shops. The headwind isn't pleasant. I'm very glad to be indoors today.FCN 2-4.

I was dreading the ride home but as it turned out it was a breeze, I raised the saddle by two inches fiddled with springs, knobs and dials and set off in the phishing rain, what do you know it was actually really easy so I popped that baby in the big ring and went for it, avoiding the main roads in favour of dark potholed lanes, I nailed it home in 48 mins for the 12 miles, not fast by my normal roadie standards but considering the bike and the route i'm most pleased with that and not tired in the slightest.... honest
Looking forward to tomorrow, come rain or shine I WILL hit the 7000 miles target 8)Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Distinctly nasty ride this am - rain is that horrible mist-like stuff that gets in everywhere - still on the MTB - didn't see another cyclist and bike shed at work is empty - am I the only gay in the village* ?

Went out in the rain and cold yesterday and saw an MTBer on a HT with helmet mounted light and cycle cape  Yes one of those yellow sail type efforts.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Haven't really been scalped [yet] but i had an odd moment on my mtb the other day.
I approached a hill i know and went up at a fair rate of knots as i love climbing.
Turned around before hitting the trail when i noticed a young lad behind looking very red, anyway got to the cafe and let him past as i wanted some nibbles.
Further down i caught him up, anyway i say hello only to have him stop and pretend to be fiddling with his mp3 player, guess he didn't like my showing him up on the hill and took it rather personally which is a shame.
Anyway i thought it was a bit of an odd scalp, he didn't want to play.
Roadies on the other hand, i love sitting behind a peleton just to see their reactions. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Went out for a 17 miler today up to Barrow tanks the wrong way to the route I plotted onto the Garmin and came back into Brizzle via Long Ashton which is a mildly lumpy road, as I was pootling up one of the molehills two roadies came past, one going for it with the bike all over the place and his mate slightly slower in the wrong gear. As the slower one passed me he changed a gear which was my signal, go in for the kill, as I passed him I heard the groan of despair and went after the other one which I caught and passed. No sign of them when I got to the junction by Ashton Court
If you were those riders who passed me to be passed a short while later, MTFU!I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Blimey that was a bit nippy... Hands most of all.
Picked up a few lazy roadies but saw another giant of a man out there in full black dhb on a what looked like a new red white and black trek. Rather chunky legged guy was ruining his back rolling from side to side on a specialized roadie too.
I kept seeing gaggles of hi-vizers together in the park which I didn't go through given the likelihood of ice.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

pretty fricking cold out there this morning, my buff started to freeze
still, I got an early present from a guy on a charge plug all the way out in beckenham and a dolan was dropped soon after. Had a little battle with an rlj'ing blue ribble rider... that boy's got no shame and no scalp
there seemed quite a few new years resolution cyclists out there... good. Tough day to startPurveyor of sonic doom

Bloody freezing this morning! I had a visit from the PF about 5 mins after leaving home. I pootled to Brixton cycles and waited 15 mins outside to use their track pump. I don't understand why they open after the main morning commute (9am)....there were 5 people freezing outside whilst they had cups of tea and chatted inside about bike polo or whatever.
Had no spare so pootled the rest of the way. My fingers were freezing. Anyone tried surgical gloves as a base layer?0 -

Yeah, surely leave as outer or middle (if doing 3) at least... Ideally cut most of the back and palm bits off - its just the fingers... Didn't you come up with a good model of how to do that on the friday in the pub CP? I have seen fishermen using them with a smothering of vaseline underneath. Would sweat be an issue in this weather?
My current glove combo of liner and autumn style glove is not working well in these temps.0 -

Grrr - had to take the car today. Went out on the club run Sunday morning and had an off outside Malmesbury on some ice. No time to even think about it as the back wheel disappeared underneath me and before I knew it my hip, head, ribs and elbow made pretty enthusiastic contact with the tarmac. Luckily I wasn't going too quick at the time so it could have been worse. 2 guys behind me went down as well in perfect synchronisation on the same stretch.
We all thought that we'd cleared the icy bits through the lanes and it was sunny and bright about 1.00 o'clock in the afternoon so maybe we'd relaxed too much and weren't as vigilant as we might have been.
Feeling a bit bruised and battered today so might have to have a couple of days off. Saying that I may have a go with the tricross down the towpath from Devizes to Bath instead of risking the road in this weather. Course if I come off again I could end up in the canal ....
