Does this mean you'll be staying late by 1.5 hrs this evening? 8)
Oh hell no - it's friday, it's sunny, the bosses are away. I'm going to the pub. I may even leave early.
And I'm not self-employed, but due to the current market I have b*gger all to do at the moment, I've made my boss aware of this, asked for more to do and received nothing. The very moment she tells me off I'll start getting in earlier. It's been 7 months so far...0 -

Is this a black/white/blue BMC, with a flattish top side of the top tube? If so, I think I bumped into him one evening earlier this week. Assos 3/4s and shaved legs.
I think I homed on on him just after VB lights; quite windy that evening and at 43k, I didn't have enough in the tank to make a move. I sat about 6m back and 2m to the right. At the CB lights he was baulked by a slower rider coming off the lights, so I flicked past and took the lead along the straight to AB. Holding mid 40s with some weird whipping wind from a direction I couldn't fathom, and then about half way along he eased up alongside me (took me slightly by surprise, I admit), and asked about my powermeter. Nice bloke, good chat, and he clearly has a big engine. We took separate filter lines on the AB approach and I lost him.
In related news, a fit burd triathlete complemented "the beast" I had between my legs (Bike 1) earlier in the week.
"Raaarrrhh, Baby", I replied, giving it my best Austin Powers.
She rode off, looking disquieted.
Yeah - Greg you really need to work on the social skills0 -
Seriously hacked off today because we've been told that the C2W this year will be using Halfords - means no Pearson alas - and no Specialized who won't deal with them - b*gger :evil:0

I had a nine month stretch like that in a previous job. Literally messed around playing with cars, drinking coffee and having lunch with mates all day apart from a few hours in the office surfing the net. Not as much fun as it sounds.David

Spot on. It's actually just a little bit soul-destroying, but given the current climate I'm not handing in my notice until I've got somewhere else to go.0 -

Besides, apparently some LBS' will accept Halford C2W vouchers. Worth checking.
Beautiful ride in today. Left the house at 6.30 so roads were clear and sun was shining. As an added bonus the blood alcohol levels were still just high enough to take the edge off.
Cutting down Cheyne Walk approaching Albert Bridge and some girl decides that she has right of way, even though she is riding on the pavement, and just rides straight in to me as I’m pulling out on to Embankment. No harm done, but I’m scared for cyclists like this. They don’t seem to have any awareness of what’s going on around them.
Then I get to work and the gym is closed so I’m left to fester in my own blood and sweat for the whole day.0 -

Oh yeah. I was spent when I rolled up outside the office. The only thing left would have been to crouch on the hoods and blatantly hammer it. At which point, he would have changed up to the 53 and I'd be left looking like Wylie Coyote left in Roadrunner's dust cloud. And still with his @rse on a plate. Meep, Meep!FCN 2-4.

Did something weird to my calf on Wednesday, chasing a fairly rapid roadie all the way from Blackfriars to Barnes. Didn't even know I used my calves for cycling; still hurts two days later, and I'm feeling somewhat stupid.
When will I learn not to have ideas above my station...?Pannier, 120rpm.0 -
You chased a roadie on a Brommie all that way??? Respect!FCN 2-4.

YOU are that guy on a Brompton!

But that's a distance of about 8-9 miles, with long straights ideal for losing knobblied mtbers putting up a fight, let alone a guy on a Brompton!
Sounds like you've caused Greg a few problems too.FCN 2-4.

On the plus side, I've just fitted my clippy pedals, and now have a mighty FCN of 10. 8)

Name the time and place  We're racing for pinks right?
Clippy pedals are really quite a revelation, the acceleration is astonishing. Last night I got home (just over 12 miles) is 42 minutes. With a headwind. Scalped another brace of roadies on the way along with a bagful of hybrids. Some nights it just feels great!
Actually, I've just recalculated (back on proper bike) so I am now a 9. Maybe I should shave the beard? So anyway, it's back to you chasing me. What did you do to lower your number? Apart from spds?
Oh and what are pinks?0 -

Had a bit of witty banter last night with a pedestrian who was very surprised I stopped for a RL on the NKR. Needed to stop, legs are stuffed just like my sinuses0 -

Turbo trainer? My LBS has one connected to a screen where you take part in the race.

So, Tardie, you gotta beard and green or yellow socks?
Tell me you wear a tweed jacket with leather arm patches, a flat cap, smoke a pipe, and have a double-barrelled shotgun cocked over your arm!

Just the SPDs, I was rolling on flat pedals before, instant two pointer, but so well worth it.
As for racing for pinks... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=racin+for+pinks

2 hours a night? Jesus wept.
People who actually take endurance sports seriously have to be a bit mental. A mate of mine at school was a very good amateur roadie. Used to do 3 hours on the rollers after school in the winter...0 -
