All the way down on the drops with your weight forward helps too - improves my confidence on that right hander no end - I feel much more in control, so I can maintain 55-60 kph through both bends - if you're not a fatty this may be harder...

Thanks for that. Excellent tips. And I am tending to tense up and grip too hard. It feels the trickiest bit on the circuit.

I really suggest not going hell for leather down Broomfield for 4 reasons:
    1. There’s often loose gravel.
    2. There’s often the famous big stag in the road that will not move for you.
    3. If you come off you may skewer yourself on the posts on verge. Google for evidence-RIP.
    4. It’s a 20mph speed limit.

    5. There are a lot of fairly slow family groups riding in the park at the moment (which is great). If anyone coming up the hill needs to overtake one of these groups (or anyone else) they're going to have to be in the middle of the road to maintain the required 2m separation. This is going to limit your options somewhat if you've already committed to the racing line.
    6. In general, if you're riding in the park at the moment you're going to have to slow down quite frequently to wait for opportunities to overtake slower riders without getting too close to them or to riders coming the other way, so whilst the park's still a great place to go for a ride, it's not currently suitable for sustained fast riding at most times of the day.

Don't be one of the plonkers I saw this lunchtime (some even on TT bikes with all the aero kit) riding flat-out with no regard to social distancing and seemingly no intention of slowing down for anyone.

My gut feel is that, unless it pours down with rain, this weekend will be bikeageddon in RP, and Royal Parks will have no choice but to close it to cyclists.

On the flip side, most roads outside the park are deserted and feel much better suited to fast riding.

Don’t worry. I won’t be. Poor choice of words. I’m 50 and have a family of my own I go round the park with. My “hell for leather” is a pretty tame affair and even if I wanted to race, I couldn’t - my legs are knackered. But I would like to feel more confident going down the hill. Agree on the TT riders.

Yes, they went after the death. Met a doctor that hit one after getting a rabbit in her front wheel, broke 4 ribs. Ouch!

I WFH most of the time anyway and the 2-3 days a week i normally do are my most productive and i'm not wasting 4-5 hours in the car anyway these last two weeks are killing me because the special situation we're in is overloading critical IT for my customers, one of them in a monster online retail corp so its all about using online to prop up their retail losses the other is our very own government, man keeping up with than is killing me, the differences with commercial vs gov in the normal day to day are night and day and despite warning said gov for years they need to invest its only now they're taking action.

This maybe should be in rant or not online at all, i think i've left the details sufficiently vague but feck i'm tired.

Seen comments on another (non cycling) site about people not maintaining distance when overtaking in RP.

Let's be sensible and allow them to keep it open. If it's not possible to overtake, just slow right down.

Was excellent discipline by all this morning that I could see, but I fear for it over the weekend

Practical note. I'm pretty sure I've had the virus now, temperature, confined to bed for a week, shortness of breath etc.

A couple of days before I came down with symptoms, I did a hard zwift session. Hard as in I felt like I completely lost all energy after about 40 mins, but struggled through to the end. I am convinced that pushing through that session has meant I am taking longer to recover fully. It's been 2 weeks now, and still don't feel back at full lung capacity and not been anywhere near a bike.

My advice is don't go too hard just now, and if you're struggling to maintain power, just bin it off. You might be glad you did.

My local WhatsApp group has had a rant on it about cyclists using the lower path by the Thames from lower ham road past the hawker centre and not keeping their distance.

I'd say that path was too narrow to keep 2m from anyone, so one to avoid if possible.

Yes. Too much crowding at the park gates apparently. Didn’t see that at Ham Gate early doors but I guess a problem at the busier gates.

Towpath to Hampton Court was quiet yesterday but is going to get super-busy now and will be next. I've resorted to Joe Wicks and bought a turbo trainer.

Surely empty roads = cycling goodness? I'm not training for anything, I might explore this great city.

Was that on nextdoor.com? So full of moaning types, it’s absolutely awful. I need to unsubscribe so I stop getting emails, but that means looking at the site.
Unfortunately park shut from tomorrow anyway, I agree with Hopper and may head townwards.
    Hope you recover well KG.

Couple of laps in. Same sub 40 time. Too windy, too busy (and too shagged) for 3LC. Will save that for the summer. Back to running for a bit now. And may try some road cycling.

Left the house for the first time in 12 days today. It is not possible to maintain anything like 2 metres separation between people when there are walkers and cyclists on the riverside path.

Even local to me near the boaters in Kingston where it is quite wide. It's simply impossible.

Stay on the roads, they look very inviting... I can't wait to get on a bike.

I’m pretty sure apart from when I’m in the office I’m always six feet plus from the next person all year around, including mrs itboffin

Tour of London. Deserted, riding in the middle of the Mall, birdcage walk, round hyde park corner. Terrific. I don't suppose I was ever closer to another person than 5 metres or so.

Fun watching all the posh folk social distance queueing to shop at the fancy food shops on Fulham Road, no elbowing for the last foie gras or bottle of dom.

To windy here today for an outside ride, woken up by my fence falling down then found soot all over the carpet. Blowing a gale yet again

Did my first Zwift ride in three and a half years today. Was a fun social ride with the club: bubble to keep us together and a chat over discord. Plan from now on is Sunday 90min social followed by 60 mins self riding and Thursdays 30 mins social followed by the hour of power.

I'm currently trying both Zwift and Sufferfest. I think I'll prefer the latter but I think I'll be in the minority.

I haven’t used Zwift since the year it started but it does seem to be the go to platform these days, what I don’t like is the false w/kg and speed everyone posts, they’re never going to address that as it keeps people engaged I.e. paying
