Silly commuting racing

No.3 son is a bike hater, he'll probably turn out to be a close passing motorist, so traumatised by my attempts to make him a cyclist. He won't be agreeing to any bike shizzle on his birthday.
Today I took a different route to normal over Crystal Palace and up through Dulwich for a change. It was a slightly odd ride as when I got out of the car and hopped on the bike first thing I had an odd lopsided sensation.
Luckily I have some spare shoes i use for spinning in the office to go home in... the shame!0 -
Hahahaha, you plum !!! That's brilliant !!!!!0

hahhhahha, whoops!Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
Bike 1 (Broken) - Bike 2(Borked) - Bike 3(broken spokes) - Bike 4( Needs Work) - Bike 5 (in bits) - Bike 6* ...0 -
That is quite some work. It makes me wearing Tux trousers to meetings 150 miles from home by getting dressed in the dark look vaguely competent.
Some good competition both last night and this morning, but traffic fully banjaxed the lot, I must say the guy in the orange gillet and white genesis fixie has put on the pounds, his 3 second head start at every set of lights would have made lapping him fun had traffic allowed.
As for this morning, I ended up 3 abreast going through the Oval segregated, I think my 'on your left' and bars in the numpties left hip made him realise I wasn't conceding for his stupidity. If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0 -
On a recovery week after a brutal month, but uploaded some photos of my weekend tour if anyone is interested.

Time off has not done my legs any good. I blame the cider and biscuits.
Small bit of SCR off the lights before the blackfriars chicane/tunnel with a guy on a Domane and all the pro kit. His track stand was poor so I beat him off the lights aided by a big clucnk from his chainset. I got a good exit into the tunnel and didnt look back. He came past me as we slowed for the lights at Southwark bridge in quite a state which made me smile. Otherwise the low mist and deer in RP made for a very pretty ride.0 -
Lovely looking morning and I was stuck in car/PT. joy of getting stuck between two numpties having a car face off down a residential street. I really need my house sale to go through so I can buy the Christiana bike i want (once I electrify her, it will be SCR'd)!If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. Not that I would be mad enough to do it even if I did have such a steed. Road bikes for roads and MTB for off-road...0 -

Anyone go up Charing Cross Road this morning?
Just after the NPG, there was a crew filming a scene for a movie or (big budget) tv show. Loads of people dressed up as cops, a few cameras (including on those long crane-arm thingys) and other extras. Looked like a scene after a major incident or terrorist attack. There were about 6 police motorbikes there too, not sure if they were real or for the movie.
You could tell the police who were acting as some of them had polka dot blankets wrapped round them to keep warm.0 -

The lad might get into a bit of SCR, he came home from uni yesterday to get his bike. Look out for a large yoof on a ratty MTB with rack and panniers between Kingston and Euston this morning. I did warn him there would be a lot of people on the road and to shoulder check if he changed his line. He knows not to jump lights and I think he's too polite for shoaling, I hope.
Managed to ride in, Bushy Park still shut and no competition as usual. Trying to set up the knobblies tubeless is my lunchtime activity for the day. Hopefully CX training tonight in spite of still having this cold.0 -
Misty out this morning. Lots of SCR going on but none involving me.0

Hit by a WVM in South Wimbledon who thought getting his mirror past me meant I just disappeared. He appologised and I can't work out if I can be arsed to roadsafe/complain. Else, am trying to track down what Yodel have done with my Cross tyres...If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0

Crap. Any damage done?0 -
Sorry to hear about the WVM, hope everything's ok.
I had a van driver close pass me yesterday, I whacked the side of it as he squeezed me at a crossing which caused him to react angrily, try and squeeze me further to cut me off so he and his mate could stop and get out. I wasn't going to hang around for that. He was shouting out the window after me about me being a dirty cyclist and all over the road. I had front and back cameras running but have decided not to do anything for the moment, I don't want the emotional anguish of it and he's already pretty anti-cyclist, I'm not sure that by making a fuss I do anything positive to the general motorist/pedalist relationship.0 -

Thankfully zero damage, one of those slow motion ones where you're just squeezed out, I should really have just got busy hammering on the side of it but was busy trying to stay upright...If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0 -

I know it's a pain to do, but please, please do submit the incident. They may be anti cyclists already - they may have already had a number of reports against them, but without video evidence the police haven't been able to bring about a prosectution and get the idiots off the road - you may be that chance.
I know it's a horrid pressure, but I'd hate to know that a driver I'd had a incident with but hadn't reported went on to serious injure someone else.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

What-ho all!
Been a while, but glad to see you're mostly all rubber side down and keeping up the good work.
Being offically based in Epsom since moving jobs, the commuting has been non-existing (it's actually probably quicker to walk to the office with the clusterf*ck that this is the never ending roadworks in Epsom at the moment), but it's been a lovely summer for pre & post work jaunts in the Surrey Hills to make up for it. Anyway, I rather cheekily applied for a space in the bike park in the new employers London office given that I'm there once or twice a week at the moment (never if I can get away with it - train w@nkery is pure hell - but they will insist on me actually attending team meetings & the like every so often). Wasn't expecting to be successful given that the terms & conditions require you to be based there. BUT for whatever reason I got the OK earlier this week, and not being in the mood to point out my chicanery, I picked up my lovely yellow access tag and am fully on board with abusing their oversight.
So after a summer sabbatical I'm back in action on CSHeaven tomorrow. If you see someone on a lime green London Road looking competent (I hope) yet vaguely bemused and possibly experiencing flashbacks whilst negotiating the Clapham to E&C drag strip (that b*stard who nearly T-boned me by the curry house at Clapham Norf last winter still provokes psychotic revenge fantasies...) it might well be me.CS7

vimfuego welcome back.. word of warning... the extended summer sunshine means there are still a lot of fxxkwits on bikes and even more tourists.
I saw a woman walk straight out into a guy on the embankment CS8 on Monday night. They both went flying.
She was in shock.. mumbling about thinking it was one way but had still walked out at her red light ped crossing. He was shaken but ok.
Take it easy and turn on your spider senses.Always in stealth mode0 -
Hey vimfuego. Welcome back. I seem to recall you're an early starter so I doubt I'll see you on the road. Maybe in the pub at Christmas.0

First time riding in with the wife on her ebike. It does the same speed uphill as it does on the flat :shock:0

If it's anything decent, I wouldn't race her up a 3km@7% hill. I know from experience :oops:0
