Free gifts

  • i love getting the sheets of stickers, i end up putting them all over my folder at work, just to annoy the big bosses as they want pristine areas!!

ha ha i soon put a stop to that, can't wait to see their faces when i turn up on the weekends in my bike kit !! lol !!

keep up the good work MBUK and keep up with the free stickers !
  • The Trek socks and the Saint beanie were cool, both only just fit though. I don't think my head is that big compared to a couple of my mates either, but perhaps they are just apes. The socks only just fit and I'm a size 10.

I don't have a problem with the free gifts especially as the one's I've had have been 'sponsored' by a big brand anyway. It's fairly obvious they pay a hefty chunk of the costs involved in them.

I have subscribed now that they have a decent free gift (Cateye lights, I need some commuting lights now and hey, if they're free...), the multitool sounds like utter tripe despite Doddy's 'recommendation' of it in the blurb!

2 different multitools that, there was a free one a while back which was utter gash, made of tin and chewing gum, but the subs gift one was a specialised emt comp one, prettty nice. Not quite as good as my alien 2 but not far off it.

  • I did apprechiate the socks. they did fit... just.

could do with some new stickers tho... (hint hint)
  • i have small feet and the socks are tight are they supposed to be like that
  • I thing that some time the mag have to think in what kind of gifts put on.
The multi tool is a Shit, How can you use this stuff in a expensive bike man!!!
The socks, in the last 2 years is the second time that they put it and the same small size men. Looks nice but impossible to use it, I give it to my girlfriend.
The beanie also small, the stickers not bad but always the same and the DVD's are great but in the one taht the put in the special aniversary was a mix and copy paste for before.

    So some imagination people.
Appart of that i love the mag, the reports and all the stuff.
  • Love this month's free calender, some stunning shots there.

    David
  • Great stickers in this months mag, cheers!
  • the multitool sounds like utter tripe

WHAT it was a great multi tool, ive used it on several repairs and light overhauls!
  • That Saint hat was ace! And my multi tool is fairly useful. I have it in my tool box, is nice to use in unison with my proper allen keys since I alrady have a small multi tool in my bag.

Can we have an MBUK T-Shirt free one issue? Can't cost that much to get 40,000 printed T-shirts, they don't need to be organic cotton fashion items. I think part of the appeal would be wearing a basic rough and ready MBUK T-shirt.
  • Yeah a T-shirt would be cool! 8)
  • Gotta be loving the free stickers. No longer is my tool box plain black and boring.
  • A T-Shirt would be a good idea but the problem would come with sizes, if the mag came with a M for example any one that wears a L or above would miss out. I think for t-shirt to work the mag would need to come with a form you fill in and send off then at least you would get the right size.

You would need S,M,L,XL,XXL option though to cater for all MBUK readers

Like the socks which were ok but too small for me, they was a bit tight.
  • You can please some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time

Anyone ever hear that quote before?
If you don't like a free gift then bin it or give it away. After all, you're buying the mag for the content...aren't you?
There's plenty of mags out there that don't give away any freebies at all. MBUK can't really win - no freebies and people will complain, give freebies away and people complain that they're crap.

The logistics of giving away free clothing make it an absolute nightmare. Working in the magazine production industry I know just how hard (if not impossible) it would be to get an even distribution of sizes when it comes to socks/beanies/T shirts, hence the one size fits all option.
Stickers are always good, still got some free space on my fridge and toolbox

Personally think most of the gifts are pretty poor. Need to start up with giving out the Posters again they were awesome.

  • I use to like the posters when I was a bit younger, they don't really bother me now. Maybe when I have a garage they might come in useful again..

I buy the mag for the mag- if its got a gift on it its a bonus!
