    B&Q

Bought some stairway spindles a few weeks ago and finally got round to fitting them earlier this week. After fitting 2 of them, the 3rd one didn't fit. Measured it with tape measure and it measured 894mm instead of 900. Turns out, of the 14 bought only 2 were actually measured 900mm. Might not seem much, but enough for them to be too small and not work.

Went to return them last night, and was there arguing the toss for a good half hour because 2 of them had wood glue on them and another had been damaged - because too small. Lass wouldn't have it, so was waiting for manager to come down.

F*cker didn't show for ages, so put it to the lass that she forget the 3 damaged, refund me for the 11 that were as new...........and gave me some sort of gift voucher for having to wait the best part of an hour to get sorted. Which did the job.

Went back to the spindle aisle, quick measure to see that most of their ranges were out so popped over the road to Whickes where ALL of their spindles measured 900mm exactly and were f*cking cheaper too.

Last 2 times we went she wiped her ar$e all over the bed and sh*t in his slippers.
In that case visit them as often as you can. You get my drift?:D:lol:

Left the MTB in a "greenhouse" style secure cycle shed at a different office for the last 2 days.
Got dropped off at it today to ride to work, and blow me the brakes are jammed on hard.
Must of been a little bit of contamination or air in the hydraulic brakes that's boiled in the sun.

Therefore todays ride consisted of a lot of resistance training...

Are you sure it wasn't just normal cat diarrhoea, given it all smells like Satan himself went on a bender, then a tour of the local kebab houses, then had colonic irrigation with vinegar?

On a separate note, when I was young we had house rabbits and one of them died of diarrhoea. That was not pleasant.
Oh no, this stuff was "special", arse-water straight from the 7th circle of hell.

Get the poor little bugger checked out - a cat won't sh1te outside its litter tray (or designated spot) unless it really is unwell and cannot help it. Or if it's stressed. :(

Our bikesheds in work are a metal frame with perspex walls and roof, anything more than 3 minutes inside during summer and you sweat more than when you did on the ride to work. I now take my pannier, lights etc off outside and only go in to lock my bike up when hot. The highly accurate Garmin temperature reading said 35c on Tuesday.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

In on-road cycle lane, car passed so close, their wing mirror hit my elbow, and whacked their mirror into the folded position. Fortunately it didn't knock me off balance, and they weren't another couple of inches further over as I hate to think what might have happened. Was so shocked though I didn't even get their number plate or anything. :x

Not me, but saw a Royal Mail van on Millbank this morning, pull alongside a chap on an MTB on the blue paint and goes along with him for a good 50 metres. Van decides he wants to turn left and obviously thinks that putting the indicators is enough and just goes for it. MTB chap slams on the breaks and just manages to go round the back of the van.

All the driver needed to have done was slow down a bit and go behind him (or he could have accelerated past much earlier).

I'd noticed on Friday that my chain was getting a little slack, so at the weekend, I moved the wheel back slightly in its slots (fixed gear bike). All good. Except that this morning, it was loose again, which was curious. On further inspection, it appears that my chainring is only held on by one bolt. Not ideal.

Hopefully, I'll be able to nurse it home without the final bolt falling out......

Does anyone have any Stronglight 49D/TA Criterium 5 pin chainring nuts/bolts they have no need of?

Managed to "fall off" the velodrome track today, half way round the banking, and it was my own silly fault. Track-rash a-plenty and a little chunk out of my ankle.

Yobike in Bristol have intoduced more T&Cs about leaving the bikes at a designated stand and securing it, basically locking the bike to one of the many sheffield stands dotted around Bristol. Took one for a ride today and left it as they wanted but because the stand I used wasn't on their map I had an email warning me as such. The return journey had a bike left at a designated stand alongside another Yobike and still had an email warning me. The stand locations are done by GPS, if you don't get the exact GPS location then you'll get the email. I've had an exchange of messages with them about this today.

No, definitely cats. I've seen them start from the house, and also have them on cctv. We do have foxes pooping in our garden too though.

It never rains but it pours. Managed to nurse my Mercian home last night with only one chainring bolt in place. I also managed to find some spare ones in my man cave, so all good.

However, rain is forecast today, so I took the Carlton. Left crank is creaking ominously, with the crank showing movement on the axle. I've tightened it up, but it looks like the tapers are dead.

At this rate, I might have to bring 'old faithful' (my Dawes Chevron) back out.

    Bloody Dartford Crossing payment!

Crossed the bridge and (probably because I have one or two other things on my mind) forgot to pay the "congestion" charge (since they did away with the tolls, it's probably one of the better-flowing bits of the M25). Anyhow, remembered 2 days late and tried to pay on line (including late payment "fine") but couldn't because I didn't have a fine number. Phoned them and was told a letter would go to my home address and I couldn't do anything until then but, as it was a first offence, I'd be let off with a warning. I explained that I hadn't been to my home address more than twice this year. Anyhow, got my son to open the post this week: £70-odd quid fine, halved if I pay within 14 days. Went on-line to appeal the fine only to find that, according to the system, my fine was £0. So I've paid the congestion charge and I'm done. But what a fvcked up system!!

Sitting watching TV with my wife around 2230 Friday evening and we heard a heavy bang/crunch very close by, immediately followed by a car alarm. “Is that ours?” Yes, it was. We emerged into the street to find my car 3 feet further back than it had been a few minutes earlier, front wing bashed in, front inside wheel pushed onto the pavement and also shunted into the car behind it (also ours). Still in the road, stopped, is the “culprit car”, a huge 4x4, with driver still at the wheel, a neighbour from a few doors down and TOTALLY DRUNK. By this time several other neighbours had emerged and a brief discussion ensued as to whether Police should be called. Some of these neighbours are, I think, friends of the “perp” and were suggesting that perhaps I should not call the Police. Meanwhile the offender drove off and parked around the corner, and on her way back to rejoin the conversations she fell over, that drunk. She immediately, in slurred tones, denied that she was driving, or even had a car. I did call the Police, but by the time they arrived she had gone home and was not answering the door, so they were sympathetic but could not therefore breathalyze her. She was drunker than I have seen anyone for years. Next day, as I was taking more photographs, a guy walking his dog came past and said “I saw her do that, not only that but she also hit a car 50m further back down the road just beforehand”. Grrrrr.

Similar thing happened to my wife. Forgot to pay, but then we went away on holiday. We missed the 14 day window by one day, but when she logged on to pay, she was only given the option to pay £35 pounds, which she did and we thought it was all sorted.

Next thing we know, we get a bill in the post of £140 for not paying the fine!

Got sorted out in the end, and now registered for automatic DartPay, although her car is registered with my debit card...

I'm sure you've put the wheels in motion already, but get a no win no fee solicitor type on the case and get everything you can out of her. Her insurance will be inclined to settle up quickly as the NWNF will take the pi$$ if not.

I'm increasingly of the mind that if you are in a motor vehicle you can get away with more or less anything - certainly attempted murder on downwards. Tragically, more and more people seem to have worked this out.
