It'll turn up as soon as I arrive home with a shiny new one!

Took me a moment to work out how it works from the tiny picture on my phone, but that does look very good. How stable is it when tackling really tight lockouts? With a conventional whip I sometimes feel a slight wobble away from smashing knuckles into sprocket teeth.

If you're at risk of skinning knuckles you might be doing it wrong with the chainwhip whatever kind you're using.

My top tip for really stubborn lockrings is to secure the chainwhip around the small end of the cassette (obviously unavoidable with this decathlon model!) and position the cassette tool so that you can squeeze the chainwhip and cassette together with your hands (so using your grip strength).

I always find I can exert more force that way than I can by trying to use my arm/chest, in part probably because I'm not worried about the tool suddenly slipping and my hand flying into the cassette/spokes.

In my experience, it's bombproof. No hint of slippage even in extremis.

Although I've not used the Vise Whip, I'd say yes. The Decathlon one is just so simple.

Garmin edge 705 completely dead. Won't turn on at all, even using soft reset & after a full charge.
Something has failed, hoping it's only the battery.
I had similar after a wet ride for my 3 year old 1000: no response to any touchscreen input whatsoever. If it's out of warranty they have a scheme whereby you send it back to them, pay a charge (it was £80 for the 1000) and they send you a new/refurbed device. Got mine back day before yesterday.

Ah, forgot about this. On the way home, almost got taken out by a police motorbike.
He's on the other side of the road, going the opposite direction.

He suddenly does a U-turn, across me, looking like he's going to carry on in the same direction as me, but then he puts the brakes on and pulls to the right, so the bike stops at a 45 degree angle from the kerb. No lights, sirens or indicators in any of this manoeuvre. Only quick evasive action prevents me from riding into him. He seemed completely oblivious to my presence even as I whipped round him.

I've been told the 705 doesn't have a refurb support due to it's age, meaning it's "Trade in/Trade Up" instead. waiting to see exactly what that means.

I think it likely that I'd get it cheaper using healthy points discounts through work though.

You *really* don't want to be doing that. First two weeks after a break is when cartilage grows across the fracture as a bridge. That then mineralises to create new bone. You keep moving things around and you will fuck up the cartilage bridging good and proper.

Bus driver overtakes another stationary bus directly into may path, essentially forcing me off the road. Spent most of the day wishing I'd just stood my ground (he was moving slowly) and let him block the road and look like a pr|ck.

Had a grand plan to attend this in "normal clothes", rather than the usual lycra lobby
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-40293816

Therefore in pootle mode, but suffered a visitation from she who should not be named & had forgotten the repair kit, cue a mile walk & visit a shop & repair.

Cue a dude on a hardtail in shorts and t-shirt flipping flying down eastern road at max chat in primary position, spinning out on an MTB 3x9 with a gear train that needed some serious servicing. Quite amusing/upsetting to fly past those on the shockingly thin, heavily used cycle path, especially all the "roadies" mixed in with the nodders.

Thankfully made it in the nick of time - just as the bells went.
But normalise cycling I did not. Arrived in a sweaty mess I most definitely did.

When my 705 died for the third time I sent it back again to Garmin, but each time no mention of a warranty fee, after waiting 2 weeks I called them and was told they were getting more units back in but couldn't give me a date and I had two options. One was to wait for 705s to become available or they'd send me an 800 which would be with me in 2 days time, I went for the 800 option and it came with a premium HR strap and a new GCS-10 which I sold.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Tax codes = aaaarrrrgggghhhh .........

Moved companies last October, was convinced there was something wrong with my tax but was assured by both HMRC and my new employer that it was correct. Did my tax return yesterday (nice and early, I usually run around like an idiot on 31st Jan doing it) and hey presto I'm getting £6,400 back.

Nice that the money is coming back my way, but bloody annoying that it wasn't sorted when I flagged it 6 months ago.

Can anyone advise what the rules are when crossing an empty pedestrian crossing (with beacons)?

Just got pulled over by a guy in a suit in a Land Rover, who showed me his police cap and told me he'd get me reported if I rode across a crossing without stopping. There were no peds on the first one (nor near it) and on the second one, the chap had passed the mid point I.e. On to the side of road I wouldn't be using.

I am pretty careful, and never RLJ but I just accepted his view, not worth the challenge to my mind. But curious to know how wrong I was?!
