Car coming the other way turned right into a side road in front of me.

She stopped, waited, watched me get to within 20 yards, then went.

"I thought you'd seen me" she said.

Yep, relatively ok thanks. I'll be phoning BC, getting her to report it to her insurance, and guarding the video of it with my life!

    What? Wait?

She thought you should stop? She started to turn, SAW you and then expected you to stop, so she went??????

So she admitted she deliberately turned into the path on an oncoming vehicle.

I hope you're okay yourself and the bike is not badly damaged.

I'm not entirely sure what she meant. I said exactly that and she said something about thinking I was going slower than I was.

But yes, she slowed down to a stop, indicating and positioned to turn right, she waited for a few seconds while I approached, then when I got really close she cut across me, I braked, swerved and went into the back door of the car.

I think I'm just bruised and grazed, going to get checked out in a bit when the adrenalin has worn off.

Ouch! Glad to read that you're ok; good to have the video to refute the potential "it was all his fault" claim.

Nothing significant really. Gave me her details, offered to take me up the road to work. She offered to sort out any damage (not sure she realised her car was worth about the same as my bike!), said she didn't have her insurance details with her....

Gahh, PT, so bloody fowl, the dorris had arranged dinner out last night in town (at a daftly late time as all the decent times are obviously kept from joe public, despite me still dropping £250 on three courses each and a bottle of vino) so it was PT home. This morning was daft, Bakerloo line down but you wern't told until you'd stood in the heat of the platform for 15 minutes. Both other lines jammed, zero Borris bikes so I had to walk.

How do those mugs do it every day!

The LCC's best value campaign to get more people on bikes and force infrastructure change could be just to advertise on the tube saying 'all the people cycling are enjoying their journey to work, you lot aren't!'
If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.

A&E have confirmed that I'll okay, but it'll hurt tomorrow.

GF will be coming to pick me and the bike up from work this evening.

And the car is shown as insured on askMID.

Edit: So now it's time to speak to the driver and say "I know you kept telling me I was fine and that you'd pay for any damage, but you need to tell your insurers about this and put them in touch with me".

Edit again: Just put the driver's name into google. Apparently, a few years ago she was "charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin"

TNT are a magic courier company.

They collected a parcel this morning, and according to the tracking details they delivered it to the recipient two weeks ago. For when it absolutely has to be there before you post it TNT is the only solution.

TNT started as Thomas Nationwide Transport (in Australia)

    It's now an International company.

Mr Astra, if you are in the overtaking lane, then overtake. I was not accelerating hard or trying to race you away from the lights, I was in fact accelerating slightly slower than I normally do. And in a 1.2 Corsa that is slow even for a 1.2 Corsa your Astra SXI should have had no trouble whatsoever in getting away from the lights quicker than me and with plenty of time for you to pull in before the lorry / end of the duel carrigeway.

    What. A. C**t.

I'm talking about the driver behind the one who hit me, who I'm pretty sure beeped his horn , encouraging the driver to go.

It turns out it's the same driver that almost hit me 3 times in a minute about a year ago, 1st one out of ignorance/laziness, the next 2 as a punishment for me being there.

I've just watched the video from this morning.

I'm lying on the ground, with my head a foot or so from his front tyre, he turns the wheel around me and drives away.

Utter, utter c**t. Other people were running over to see if I was okay, he just leaves me, absolute piece of sh*t!

I can hear him beep the horn, right before the car goes.

C**ty c**tface c**t! With any luck he'll get his testicles trapped in a rusty bear trap.

Perhaps he's your personal nemesis or someone wants to take you out but can only afford a fairly inept hitman on an annual basis? Does sound like someone you'd really wish bad things on...

My rant for today is that bloody Olympic ticketing system. I was on at 11, I clicked for Box Hill tickets, I waited a minute, I got two and went to pay for them, it kicked me out. I clicked again, I waited 7 minutes, I got two and went to pay for them, it kicked me out. I clicked again, I waited 11 minutes, I got two, I went to pay for them, it kicked me out. I clicked again, I waited 8 minutes - there are no more available. Grrrrrr!

My daughter has had exactly the same on every day she's tried to get tickets. Blame Ticketmasters completely incapable system; wasn't fit for purpose when they first set it up and after many tweaks, still isn't - and blame the ODA - it was a cheap option compared to building a proper one from scratch (and that's from an insider I know).

Buy a really big 4x4 with cash and give false details. Lie in wait, when he comes along drive him off the road, then reverse over him, then do it again a few times. Then ask him how he feels.

My first ranting post as a commuter ... not bad for months of cycling to the station, I guess.

Cycling up to Wigan Wallgate station, I only do about three quarters of a mile on road, the other 2 miles or so are on the canal towpath. I was nearly at the station, here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=wigan+wallgate+map&hl=en&ll=53.543405,-2.634977&spn=0.000601,0.002213&hnear=Wallgate,+Wigan,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=53.543405,-2.634977&panoid=20H7tM8LmPR_PTrcE4PzpQ&cbp=12,86.88,,0,0 when the pillock driving First group bus registration P704HMT decided there was enough room for his bus to get past me - whilst still avoiding the car in the lane opposite coming the other way. I actually put a hand up to fend off the bus, although with hindsight I admit that me on a Brompton trying to push several tonnes of bus away was never really going to work (rational thought was lacking when I was being pushed towards railings like that). The bus stopped a few hundred yards further up so I steamed up to the front and let the driver know my feelings in NO uncertain terms. His response was "there was plenty of room". Not from where I was, there wasn't. I've emailed the bus company to raise a complaint and had an automated "within 10 days" response, just wondering if I should report it on the non-emergency police number too? There was a witness - another First Group bus was behind, so the driver must have seen what was happening. I got their registration number when they went past, but I doubt they will be impartial or for that matter, bothered.

So, nearly 800 commuting miles done, and I've broken my "your rants here" duck. Here's hoping it's not the first of many!

Ooh....a rant/get it off your chest-type thread. Ace. I'd better dive in then....

Had to endure one of those usual sad, badly stereotyped cheap-shot comments from a colleague at coffee break today asking why cyclists always felt the need to jump red lights (bear in mind this is a middle-sized county town with not that many sets of trafic lights anyway). I retaliated fairly heatedly by pointing out (1) I don't actually do this 'cause it gives cyclists a bad name and that (2) it's the sort of b******t perpetrated by the Daily Mail. Could have done without that to be honest, put a big black mark on the working day. :(

Said colleague didn't do themselves any favours on the stereotype front by being a bit lardy and choosing to make the <7 mile round trip to work and back each day in a 4x4. They actually live nearer to the workplace than I do, for pity's sake.

I might not have been quite so irked by the general hackneyed bad cyclists/second class road users theme of the conversation taking place if Dad hadn't been knocked off his bike (trip in an ambulance and 2 weeks off work) earlier in the year. :(

    OK. Rant over.
