Hi All, newb here, I live in Swindon and the names Will. Me and a mate regularly go out riding on a thursday evening around the swindon area. Fitness is pretty good so usually we do around 20 miles, some on road, but tend to use paths, trails where possible. Have done the Castles ride last few years and down to Cwn carn/Afan a few times.
Anyone interested in getting out in a group, contact me at w.smith911@btinternet.com.
Cheers.

Chances are Willonayeti we've rode past each other on a few occasions!
Few of us regularly go out on tue or thurs or both! Will be in touch!
Its better for the motivation during the wet weekdays when you know others are going to be there!
Also already talking about night rides come the winter!Carbon is a mans best freind0 -
Thursday looks good - meeting place to be agreed but prob White Horse Hill car park or layby at Foxhill.
Saturday I fancy either a big loop near Barbury Castle or an attempt to discover Bradbury Clumps. Meet at sometime between 4 & 5. Anyone got any views? My guide to navigating using the Garmin Edge 800

@Guido1 - sorry, I wasn't 100% sure I'd make it and did try and let you know on Friday. As others here will testify I might be 5 mins late on occasion, but I try not to let people down. Hope to meet soon.
Shall we say this Thur, 7.15 at Foxhill then?My guide to navigating using the Garmin Edge 800

Strodey, you might be right. Seen plenty of others out and about. It's amazing how we talk about checking the weather before deciding whether to do a long or short ride in the middle of august! Crazy british summers. I even cycle to work up to old town some days and get absolutely drenched, but you've got to get out on the bike.
Forgotrafe, cheers for the pm, where's the Foxhill layby? Anywhere near the motocross circuit? I did a mountain bike race round there in the early 90's and those hills are some of the hardest i've ever tackled. Only problem for me this week is I'm on lates so don't get home till 6.45. What time do you normally meet up there?0 -
I will be there thursday for sure. we'll have t look at revising the times abit soon as the summer is drawing to its conclusion soonWhy use brakes? Falling off is a much quicker way to stop0

Ok, 7.15 is pushing it a bit for me, I live in North swindon so have to go right over the other side of town and beyond. I reckon I can do it in about half hour, but 7.30 would be better. I know if the weathers crap then it will be starting to get dull at that time, lights anyone? That layby looks like its just past the Shepherds Rest pub.
My mate can't make thur as his missus is dragging him off to the flicks but he's up for saturday. Did I see you say off in search of Bradbury clumps? My mate knows that area so maybe a good chance to get the lowdown.0 -
With the nights drawing in a bit we need to set off asap. But if we definitely know you're coming we can wait and if it's 7.30 then so be it.
Yes the layby is just past the Shepards Rest pub. You'll see my bright yellow Land Rover there.
Let us know and I'll PM you my mobile number if you're coming. My guide to navigating using the Garmin Edge 800

All sorted. I've swapped shifts so am finishing earlier. Should be able to get there for 7.15 no problem. What sort of route do you normally do?0
-
7.15 at foxhill it is then?
How about up to white horse hill, drop down other side, quick blast down the single track then back before it gets dark? i'll bring me lights just incase, probably won't ride up as i usually do but if there is no rain i'll be ride up and leave you guys on the way back to ride home!Carbon is a mans best freind0 -
7.15 Foxhill Tomorrow night (Thur) it is.
Strodey - route is fine. I had something different in mind, but we'll have a quick glance at map before we zoom off.

I am now back from my holiday and will be out and about again.
If anyone is in the north swindon area and fancies a quick blast out to south cerny one evening let me know.
I need to find some more time to join you all on a longer route one evening.

Hey dave,
I'm in N Swindon, been out to S Cerney a few times before, round the lakes but not great in a foot of water (last year).
Me and a mate go out most weeks on thursday evening, would be up for a blast.

Cheers,
