It'll all be worth it when Vicky P is hanging the medals round our necks at the proze giving.
That is the deal is'nt it?0 -

I just made it this month even had to go out on the ice yesterday just to make sure I did 100k in November.
Only 1 more month to go then its starts all again.
Will you all be doing it next year again?0 -
Thanks for the update. I will definitely be in next year. I think I will raise my personal target to 20 points<a>road</a>0
-
Thanks for the update from me too. Definitley in for 2009 -the problem at the momemt seems to be finishing 2008!! Looks very cold at the moment - hopefully the weekend will give us a nice day.0
-
Thanks for summary.
Definitely will try to continue into next year.
Worried about December, as off to Seville, sans bike on 12th for a month and no time before. All depends on borrowing out there (no access to M-in-Law's shopper!). Looks like bronze is out of reach for me, in any case, after Flood's nailbiter for which "Chapeau".0 -
I'm also out of country but only from 26th - and I hope I can't ride a bike where I'm going (skiing). Good luck RedGreen with the borrowing it'd be a shame to not finish it off - though you should have more chance of getting a decent ride done out there than trying to get out in this weather!

Sorry to mess the figures up, I've just updated my rides from April after not visiting the forum for a while.
I managed to fit in two rides this w/end just gone, to manage the challenge for a third year :-)0 -
Managed to get my December ride in on Sunday, Good luck everyone else, nice to see your update Lloyd.

Well done Velocitizen and to everyone else who completes - I'm out of the country for New Year so will have to pass on the medal ceremony. Looking forward to 2009 challenge already.

I've got a bike and am no longer ill.
So just need a dry day in the next 3 to complete 08 (unbeliveably the seville weather forecast looks more like cornwall's for the next week).
Is it just you and me leaving it til the wire, Flood?

Updated my last 100k ride of the year from a sunny and warm saturday 27th Dec, the last as I'm working the remainder of the year. That makes a total of 47.
Well done to all that completed, and happy riding in the New Year.0 -
Finally got the last months 100k in after trying a few times. Weather here is awful.
Took the risk today and went out on slightly icy roads. Luckily I was ok. The things you do to complete a challenge.
Well done to everyone that completed it. Only a couiple of days till it starts again !!
Cheers

lloyd bower. Nice to see your update, jealous of those NZ rides.
Floodcp. Thanks for doing the monthly updates. Cutting it fine at the end, well done, are you out tomorrow to get next years started?
pdstsp. Well done.
RedGreenBaron. Did you get a sunny Spanish ride in?
el_presidente. Well done.
Congratulations to all the finishers, all the starters and all those that fell by the roadside on the way, hope you all enjoyed it.
Have a Happy New Year and get signed up for the 2009 challenge.
Can't remember how I got that 13th point but I'll be cutting back next year.

Velo, thanks for rounding everything up. Now for 2009...<a>road</a>0

I had totally forgotten I had entered this challenge when I started a proper job in April!!
Not sure how many I did in the year - by the summer most Sunday rides were 100-150km and with a midweek race that was often another 100k. Then in the autumn I did a weekly club training ride which was another 100+. Looking back I did a lot more cycling than I realised.
Will try to be more disciplined in 09 and keep better records.Still breathing.....0 -

Thanks for summing up, Velo.
Yes, I managed it on the 30th. I think rather easier here than on Flood's ice, and indeed mostly sunny and about 18 degrees!
Should be able to get January under the belt here also.
Well done to all (including those who did it but didn't write it down).

I'm afraid not. Cycling has taken a back seat over the last few weeks as my wife has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. Apart from trips to the hospital, I've been amazed just how exhausting it is looking after someone in that condition. I'd hoped to get out yesterday for a last minute ride, but we didn't get back from the hospital until early afternoon, by when the temperature was plummeting - and the last thing I/we need at the moment is for me to have an accident.
It's a disappointment, having got so close, but it's one of those things. Well done to Lloyd!
My wife goes in for an operation next week, so it's unlikely I'm going to get much cycling in this month, so the 2009 challenge looks like a non-starter I'm sorry to say.0 -
Ron
My thoughts are with you and your wife, as I'm sure everyone else's are.
I wish you both well for 2009.

Dear Ron,
I would like to echo Velo's sentiments.

Ron
Just got back from holiday and checked out the final placings in this challenge - your wife's present problem puts all the cycling into perspective - good luck to you both and keep her fighting.
Paul0 -
I would also like to echo the thoughts above, and pass on my best wishes Ron, I hope your wife makes a full recovery. Life can be so unfair at times, it really does put cycling into perspective.0

According to my heart rate monitor (only purchsed this month) I have ridden 118km thus far in total.
Aiming to complete the 100 mile dartmoor classic on the 29June09 without being dropped (8hr limit).
Please lets restart this for 2009.+++++++++++++++++++++
