Time for everyone to start thinking about the 2008 challenge.
Here are the rules for 2008.
Anyone can join and complete their first ride by 31 Jan 2008. No starters or double rides to catch up after 31 January 2008.
The challenge is very basic. You must ride one metric century 100 km or 62.18 miles per month to succesfully complete the challenge. In addition, you may ride as many as you want and there will also be a points system to award to the person who rides the most metric centuries.
The RULES are:
1. One metric century each month.
2. Each metric century is worth one (1) point. Double metrics are worth two points and so on.
3. Tie breaker will be total mileage.
4. Keep only one post per participant and you go in and edit your post with each new ride. A seperate thread will be kept (perhaps in conjunction with the Mileage Century a month challenge (if the group agrees) to exchange commentary on each ride.
5. For Brevet rides or anything else lasting longer than one continous day, the date the ride completed is the date posted. (Your post would look something like this, 14 May 4 Points 403.29 KM Total Points 14 Total KM's 1,429.76)
6. Yes, just keep editing your original posts and delete any commentary.
Your post would look something like this.
8 Jan 1 Point 63.88M/102.73KM Total Points 1 Total KM 102.73
16 Jan 1 Point 65.27M/104.97KM Total Points 2 Total KM 207.70
12 Feb 1 Point 64.90M/104.37KM Total Points 3 Total KM 312.07
Or you can put your totals at the bottom of the post.
You can also just put your distance in KM only if that is your gauge.
If you are in for the challenge, post your name saying you are in. Then edit your post, using this as a guide to post your first ride.
With thanks to the Spinnerman for inspiration.
Cheers

But what if it's cold outside? I'm old and can only ride when the temperature goes above
my age(60). Put me in. It will give me a reason to get moving. I just hope my excess
fat will help keep me warm. Works for walrus's right.

A quick question.
Does the ride need to be continuous or just completed on the same day?
The reason I ask is that I try to get at least one commute a week in which is 38 miles each way.0 -

Count me in for another year.
Last year was my second successful effort. Hope to complete again, though I'd be happy to do a fair few less - in 07 injuries restricted usual walking and mountain biking efforts and but managed to fit in more road rides.
Registered first ride today, so Jan sorted.
