what is your best bike?

I am still pretty happy with my Look 585, with Dura Ace, Deda Newton and a Flite saddle. I have been swapping between Ksyriums and Ambrosio Excellights for the wheels - still undecided if there is room for improvement there. The Look is just a great all rounder - stiff and light enough, yet also comfortable and the handling is very neutral (not too sharp and not too slow).
The only drawback I have found is that it can take on water. I got caught in the rain on Mont Ventoux, and after the ride I emptied a glassful of water out of the seat tube.
(Craig, nice new Dolan, by the way. And where did you get those Boras?).

A custom made 853 steel frame which I have had for 8 years and am now upgrading with Record and Chorus bits+ a smattering of carbon fibre elsewhre. Steel is a wee bit heavier, but stiff and long lasting. Frame made by Alves cycles.Greetings from the wet and windy North west0
-
Pete Matthews 853. Dura Ace. The point is, carrying around an extra pound (or maybe even a pound a half compared to the latest carbon exotica) is worth it because this frame will be around and unchanged when every aluminium and carbon frame currently in existence will be scrap. Unless, of course, your bike is jewellery......(on this front I have a Trek Madone, which is far lighter than the PM but inferior in every other repect).0

I've heard of similar problems with some Trek road frames - is this a fault common to all carbon bikes? Never though to check my Look KG241 since I built it, so maybe I should pop the seatpin out when I get home.... :?

Nice bike!
On the weights, you need to allow 50g or so for lube and grease ... also those look like factory weights? in which case I'd allow about 5-10% per item over the stated weight.
that said, is the 7.08kg the weight as weighed ?0 -
When she comes out of the bike bag, in the back bedroom early spring, I will get the bike shop to weigh her, will post the weight as ridden except water bottles,0
