There are more ways and better ways of looking at it. You seem to be working on the assumption that it isn't possible to reduce the numbers coming here (and removing those who have come here without permission) when clearly there are ways of doing that.

Sure it is. Not everyone is sitting at home waiting for it to be dry for an hour or two.
If it’s likely to rain at some point you’re not gonna hang the washing out.
Honestly, the mind of the internet.

This thread is going a bit too

YMMV.
Anyway, back to Mumsnet... 😂🤣😂
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
You are all arguing about laundry.
Is this the end of the forum?

Everyone's different, but I think it edges rowing.

Are some of us, um, assuming that laundry is woman’s work?🤨

What commuter train has enough spare room for tables and working...

Since it's about 90 mins by train, probably covered by 5g the whole way and batteries are a thing, I think a lack of plug sockets and WiFi is a surmountable issue.

Meh a lot of companies are cheapskates and workers will have old laptops with batteries that don't work...

In my experience only people who do very important things and have very important calls to make try to work on commuter trains.
Important people tend to have better laptops.

I live in Surrey and work in London. I am far enough out that I can usually get a seat with a table in the (free for all) first class carriage.
If I am feeling lazy, i change to Thameslink at Sutton because it goes pretty much direct to one of my sites. I also usually get a first class seat with table but it has no WiFi and there is a bizarre lack of mobile network pretty much until you reach zone 2 so I can't do anything online.

My 25 minute train from outer Bristol to the centre isn't even covered the whole way.

If it's not got good mobile coverage. Where is the train WiFi going to be coming from?

Do I have disproportionate 5g envy, because there's pretty much none in any of the places I've lived in recent years?

I’m pretty sure it is only people who want other people to think they do important jobs that work on the train.
Some people flat out shouldn’t be working on the train. I was sat in the seat behind a guy once happily reading all his client’s financial information.

It's 40 mins each way so I can get an extra hour of work done in a day without endless disturbances. Useful for reviewing drawings and the like.
I only do it if I'm busy but I'd only sit there playing backgammon on my phone otherwise

It's not even covered by 5G in South London. There are endless blackspots with no signal at all. Older stock on other lines has been retrofitted with sockets and WiFi, so it's a bit of an oversight on GTR's part.

Hardly the train companies' responsibility to sort that out then.

Meh when I was commuting by train, weatherproofing and reliably running with enough carriages that they didn't have to skip stops for safety reasons would have been ahead of tables and WiFi.
I'd also be complaining about those super hard ironing board seats ahead of the lack of tables tbh.
