Belgium v Canada both teams forgotten about the team bit of team pursuit.

Why do the commentators not understand the difference made to the times when a rider on one team swings off and the other team doesn't? They constantly seem surprised that the lead goes 0.1 second one way and then back the other next half lap.

Next marginal gains for track cycling? Visors that blend back into the riders face more. 😉

They're riding a set of individual pursuits in the bronze match, never seen such a mess.

Denmark imploded.
What's happened to them over the last couple of years? Losing Dan Bigham that big a deal?

Looked like Australia had it even before gb had a total mare. Not quite sure what happened.

Touch of wheels? Something break?

Hayter really went deep there. Aussie falls off going up the banking to celebrate to complete the Keystone Cops routine.

Thought wheel contact at time.😥

Think Hayter's legs just completely went

Oof. Can't fault them for effort.

No contact. Maybe he was practicing his position to give BMX racing a go in LA.

I know they won't be happy with silver but considering where they were 3 years ago, they should be.
Think the Aussies just about had it anyway

It was soooooo close. Such a shame.

They do (and I've heard it discussed on the red button at WCs etc.) but for the casual viewing in the OGs it would be overkill to keep saying "GB down by 0.5 but that's really 0.4 as they've just changed" etc.

Completely agree. We have been way off the pace for a few years now. To get the NR down to 3:42 and make the final was a massive achievement and probably beyond most of our expectations.

To be fair, they went for the Chasey method of going balls out. That's why his legs gave way at the end 😉

That sounds suspiciously like going faster than you ought to to start because it’s tactical, and ending up riding slower (haven’t watched it yet) 😜

I think losing Frederik Rodenberg to injury about a week ago was probably the biggest issue, as they were fine in the Euro champs in January - took silver (GB won gold) and put down the fastest time of the comp 3:44.923 in the heats. Rodenberg is pretty much Denmark's Hayter, and absolute powerhouse to finish. And he was that committed to the team pursuit that he dropped down to amateur on the road to concentrate on it for the Olympics.

It was pretty bad, but keep watching for the final....

Yet another team showing the going off really hard approach isn't a great tactic. The Italian women lost a stack in the final km.

Both women's team taking the Dnish approach to teamwork but the US hold on. It really feels like teams are pushing the limits now. It also shows the flaw in the Chasey 'just ride your maximum pace for the duration approach' as in a team event not everyone's maximum is the same and it's pretty hard to read the minds of 3 others (or 7 in the rowing)

For the last time, if you don’t know how to get your 3 riders to cover 4km at their fastest together, wtf have you been doing.
Riding so fast so you collapse at the end is not riding to have the shortest time over the 4km **which is the only sensible tactic at this level**.
just cover the distance in the shortest time you can do. That’s it. No tactics
0 -
Now that's a hugely flawed approach. For starters I'd have four riders in the team not three.

Hamish Turnbull using a perfectly measured amount of power.
No wasted effort at all......

Only 3 need to do 4km though.
