Would it be illegal if they did have oars?

Paris has got most of its venues literally in the city centre. There just seems to be significantly less advertising
0 -
Basically every place in Paris that looks nice on the telly is being used as a venue. No real consideration of anything else. Only surprise is they didn't consider having the diving outdoors in Montmartre or something like Barcelona did.

Why don't we see more of these or is it too much effort long distance?
0 -
The effort doesn't look like it's killing them, especially when they're up on the foils.
0 -
Yes that would seem ideal but maybe they wanted to up stage London I.e swimming in an old dock as opposed to the Seine.
0 -
That's the point. No one is allow to advertise. For example, "London 2012" was banned. Anything that could be considered Olympic related was banned. So the only way any Olympic stuff could be seen was through the volunteers - perhaps Paris doesn't have these.

I bet Del and Rodney found a way round that though. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Quite frankly nobody without any experience will comprehend how complex and daunting these things are. They are more akin to some of the sports in the Winter Olympics. Then it really has to be elite Men's to push the boundaries for the casual viewer.

Yeah. I mean, I was a teenager during the 00s skateboarding explosion; I know what to look for. I remember sitting through endless VHS of skate videos. All the fish eye lenses, etc etc.

My recollection is that the official Olympic logo stuff was absolutely everywhere though (and you couldn’t move for Games makers with their foam hands to the point where they seemed to feel they were the main event

They're the volunteers I was talking about

Yeahbut, that is not experiencing it. Dropping into a 10 foot bowl or half pipe is not simply childs play and that's before doing the stuff above the lip.

I've only now realised that I have 10 Eurosport channels on the TV all of a sudden.
Oh the joy of not having to watch the studio segments on either channel.

The French are certainly benefitting from some decisions (other than the MTB yesterday). They were 4 points down on Japan in the basketball with 15 seconds left and scored a 3 pointer with 10” left on the clock but were also awarded a penalty shot so ended up with a draw.

Enjoying the NadalCaraz exhibition. They haven’t quite got to grips with doubles yet but getting there.

That's not how it works. For starters it's multi rounds. But mainly how fast a boat goes isn't only about how hard you pull.
Pretty much the large boats will just go through a race plan regardless, with changes based on how little effort you can get away with. Smaller boats are more psychological battles against opponents and your own tension.

Yeah this is that rower nonsense again.
Do your 2km as fast as possible. That’s always the best way. That’s the only plan. The rest is hocum.
Accelerating and slowing down is obviously less efficient. So just row as fast as you can. If you have enough for a sprint, you've rowed the previous 1800m too slow. If you collapse, it's too fast etc.

There's a bloke in the swimming called Leader who seems to win everything, amazing!

As my expert Virgin consultant, how do I find them?

Well you know best.

The Yank commentating on the swimming on ES is getting on my nerves

Nice clips of the NI guy getting his gold medal.

How is that treated locally given he completes for Ireland? Do unionists celebrate it?
