Anyone surprised? Anyone?....

An 'unfortunate accident' would be beneficial however, maybe Farage could be with him at the time.

I'm not sure a relatively minor Dutch politician compares to to the presidential candidate....

I took that ducking her head and exposing Trump as some kind of innuendo.
Can you imagine if your job was to take a bullet for him?

Can you imagine your job is to take a bullet for him and he's too stupid to keep his head down.

She clearly didn't want a red card for a high tackle.

This is over 20 years on !!

Other than the Netherlands being a much smaller country it's a pretty good comparison. At the time he was killed he wasn't a minor politician in his own country.

She is the only one being efficient in the effort to get him away. You don't rugby tackle standing tall.

And yet the far right are having a ball nonetheless.

Must have been tempting after taking him to the ground and piling on top to just land a few and claim any damage happened when protecting him.

Could be interesting. Trump-appointed judge Eileen Cannon dismisses the secrets case, but the consensus seems to be that it's a legally baseless ruling that can quickly be appealed against. And last time Jack Smith appealed to the 11th circuit, they quickly overturned her order.
RC is probably right that Trump's got this all stitched up, but will still be interesting to watch in any case.

They really do have a fucked up legal system over there.

The combo of turbo partisanship along with a candidate who plainly prefers autocracy is really testing democracy.
Democracies don't last if the public don't want them. Not convinced Republicans nowadays do.

Brian, they tried to shoot the elderly gentleman. I know I have to take you more seriously now (demonstrated piano playing) but let the grandfather just have a couple of days without the MM and left onslaught.

So that's the legal system, the health system and the police. Any more?
Maybe America really does need to made great again. Assuming it ever was, which I ponder.

It seems that the 'guardrail' of a judiciary which is explicitly appointed on a partisan basis isn't up to the task of protecting the US against someone not only hoping to be an autocrat, but has been testing the limits of the judicial system his entire life. Now he's got extremely wealthy and determined people who see him as the means to their ends ('Project 2025'), it's looking unlikely to end well for the US.

But the economy, and a small town police officer can earn $much

Bottom line is if enough people don’t want democracy then all the rules and institutions don’t matter (without getting into my chat about how power is derived)

Great refers to wealth as far as I've ever seen. The lifestyle and social attitudes can be jarring even in normal times.
But the constitution was never means to be like a bible, hence the "amendments" (which now can't be further amended) and wasn't written contemplating a narcissist and sociopathic president.
It will get worse before it gets better.

It's written by a bunch of landowners who wanted to maintain the status quo, but have less interference from the Crown. The idea that it's some pinnacle of Enlightenment thinking has always seemed a bit of a stretch to me.

I know that Twitter really can be a cesspit, but it seems that the graphic is supposed to be in support of Trump (and replies to this tweet suggest that it is, for some, even if for me it looks like a nightmare warning).
I suppose one of the few comforts is that the UK is quite a way from this kind of thing as public 'discourse', even if all nations have their nutjobs (including the UK, of course).

You chose what you want to see though and you chose to see and post that. You can post up nutters from either side. That includes deranged twenty year olds wanting to kill former presidents.
What about the X posts from the manic left screaming why Trump wasn't killed?

Amusing detail that may have passed you by
This journalist has been covering/live tweeting Trump conferences for some years.
