Looks like the gap is closing, second group is the far bigger one.

The gap is rapidly closing.
Cav being unfairly policed again

Just approaching where I thought it would split

All back together. Cavendish presumably in the cars now.

Yves Lampaert shoulder barging Vingegaard, the big prick

With WVA there, it's got to split again when they turn left.

Taking a tow off the commissaire is a new one.

Unfairly policed, then dragged back to the peloton by the commies

Presume it's a friendly chat about the weather.

The wind just isn't quite strong enough by the look of it, it seems to be just on the cusp. Certainly making things twitchy and it feels a bit crashy.

Cav back on his lucky bike from yesterday.
His new celebratory paint job one didn’t cut the mustard.

Cav decided he needs to make it harder for himself by changing bikes again. I guess now he's taken the record he can give the others more of a chance.

Just not enough leverage to make that split stick

Is his "lucky bike" his preferred Venge? Or is he really riding a Wilier?

Thanks. Always seemed weird that you could do so relatively recently.

The pace goes up and the riders fall down.

Another 'big crash' that only took down a few riders at low speed (mainly Uno X).

You'd go viral in seconds when you posted your custom paintjob pics and your sponsor would go completely mental

Tuned in now (Back from daughter's sports day), did I miss much, any klaxons go off?
The chap is saying it's a gentle downhill on the approach, presumably Astana are going to need a fairly sizable train to bring Cav in with a chance, do they have many left?
Think I see 4 plus Cav.

It split briefly, Pog made the front group but had no team mates. Cav was off the back at the time having had a mechanical. The wind was probably a bit too light and too many in the second, larger group were working so the gap closed after about 15-20km.

Do we think Cav coming back took much out of him, did the team send riders back to assist?

Don't think so, it was looking like he'd be stuck out the back at first but once it knocked off he got back comfortably but wasn't happy with something (comms stopping him using the cars I think).

These half wheeling finishes are sketchy as fffk
