UAE are doing a shit job of protecting Pog today.

Groenwegen. Astana got pushed out of position with about 2km to go and never rally got back, Cav looked up for it in the final 500m before realising he wasn't going to make it and sitting up.

The nose armour made all the difference

Girmay is going well in bunch sprints, never really saw that as his sort of thing and had him down more for winning from a reduced group.

I thought relegation was pretty harsh, probably last year's bad behaviour catching up with him. Any deviation is pretty minimal, though it does shut the door on Van Aert. He can't have moved more than a foot or so off his line

The good news for Mads P - he got promoted from 16th to 15th and gets two points for the green jersey comp.
The bad news for Mads P, Girmay got promoted from 3rd to 2nd and gets 30 points (10 more) for the green jersey comp.

He did, and as it happened allegedly.
I didn't spot it at first, but on the replay it is kind of clear, though whether it was intentional I'm not so sure.

I seem to be almost alone in thinking the relegation was harsh, and I'm usually quite hard on dodgy sprinting. Either I'm not seeing something or Philipsen's rep is really having an influence on people
