Logic says Vingegaard will improve as the race goes on and Pogacar might feel the Giro in his legs in the final week. But whatever happens, this is already more of a race than we feared it might be a few weeks ago.

Only 7 riders within 3 minutes by stage 4. Two of those are from the same team as the leader.

They've turned off the tracking data, but the last group should have gone over a few minutes ago (they were 500m short the last time we had data) and still have over 20 minutes left to get home. Should be easily safe unless something goes wrong.

So next GC stages are the TT then the gravel?

I think he may fade ...lack of miles on the legs

It was available for all.. so it was fair

Jonas interview:
Was a little disappointed he couldn't follow, but in the big scheme of things they'd thought they could be 2 minutes behind by this point so not too bothered. Said there was nothing mental in the descent, just that Pog is a bit heavier than him 😅 Seemed very relaxed.

And another domestique in there for Quickstep

I'm still not sure Evenepoel is a contender, but I am certain that he is not working for Landa.

Not sure about that, the lack of riding is more likely to take affect in the later stages of the race when stamina starts to count I would have thought.

Me too.
We had a perfect example of this, last year, when Pogacar faded.
Of course, anything seems possible for Vingegaard, so it may well be another logical trend that he bucks.

Can I have an update on Vin's weight?
0 -
Probably a bit lighter after that descent
2 -
Using PCS and based upon what I know about Geraint Thomas, I would say 55-56kg.

I'm not buying that Pog's fade in week 3 last year was anything to do with his injury.
Vingegaard beat him convincingly in week 3 in '22 as well - a minute on Hautacam and then beat him in the final TT, even though he eased off at the end to gift it to Van Aert. His issue both years was energy management and recuperation, which was exploited by Vingegaard.
Pog seems quite a bit more conservative this time round, which suggests he's learned a bit. Obv he's got the Giro in his legs, but he didn't need to go deep for that and I doubt it will have much effect on him

According to G on the Watts Occuring podcast, Jonas is fat*.
*TBH he didn't quite put it like that originally, But Rowe pushed it into that 😅

I'm think it's going to be tough for Jonas . He is slightly under where he should be and his team is exposed Jorgensen is not going to be able to coral Yates ayuso and almedia ..... Losing kuss was a blow .
Pog needs a bad one in the TT maybe... He only really has wellens and politt for the gravel .
Acually it would be a blow losing either

Had you been acknowledging the burgeoning craft beer scene around the Alps when you wrote it? 😉

It just needs ayuso to ride off solo to protect his place in the podium.

This was the UAE team for Strade Bianchi this year.
- 221 POGAČAR Tadej
- 222 BARONCINI Filippo
- 223 CHRISTEN Jan
- 224 DEL TORO Isaac
- 225 HIRSCHI Marc
- 226 NOVAK Domen
- 227 WELLENS Tim
I reckon he'll be okay with what he has.

35 days of racing for Pog this year, all WT level, 13 wins (plus 2 GC wins).

I wonder if he will clip off with 80 k to go though
