Surprised how confident Vingegaard remains on descents.

I would have thought that after that crash, he’d be a little cautious.

Remco seems to have lost his nerve a bit, unsurprising I guess as he's already had a few nasty crashes in his career.

Pogacar slowly extending his lead. Rodriguez slowly closing on Vingegaard.

Taking time on descents is usually a sign of top form fyi (3 mins before next meeting argh)

Vingegaard is going to lose his bonus seconds.

He’s got both Roglic and Ayuso to contend with.

    Evenepoel makes it too.

18 seconds bonifications for Pogacar at the line. Not a bad day's work when you consider he likely had another gear to shift up to on the Galibier

35s on the line, Remco 2nd, Ayuso 3rd

UAE seriously strong - Ayuso and Almeida top 5 threats in their own right on this showing. Early days of course...

    Remco was good ...descent excepting

Remco and Ayuso hoover up the remaining bonus seconds, Jonas let a small gap go so maybe another second? Incredible margin in the end considering he only got clear of JV with around 400m to go to the top of the climb and didn't attack until nearly the final km.

I'm not so sure, I had the feeling he could and would have gone a few kms earlier if this was stage 14 rather than stage 4

I wasn't expecting that I have to admit. I thought Pog would wear Jonas down over the first couple of weeks then eventually make that lack of preparation count against him. Even when he attacked it didn't look like he was going to get a gap, at one point I thought Jonas might go back past.

I think he'd have to be feeling extremely sure of himself before going one on one with Jonas from distance. Today was about getting a gap and testing Vingegaard on the descent. And that's was an incredible descent he rode, not a huge flaw from JOnas.

Pog goes 45 secs up on GC. Remco 5 back on Vinegar.

18 seconds of bonifications seem unfair

I think it was all about trying to bury Vingegaard as quickly as possible, while he's potentially undercooked and maybe shaky descending. Pretty sure he doesn't want to wait around and see if Jonas comes into form in the third week, as he usually does.
