GC teams to the front for the first climb, knocked a minute or so off the lead

It’s a nice kit. I’m not a fan of black cycling jerseys but do like that one.

Not only is Kirby already pissing me off, he’s slagging off lambrusco. Prick.

Not even getting early shenanigans on the first couple of climbs.

https://racecenter.letour.fr/en/ is really handy for seeing where they are on the stage itself, and if you go to the live data bit you can see where individual riders are. The sprinters only lost about 40 seconds by the top of that last climb, if anybody cares. Seems fairly unstressful still.

    The famous ridge.

It certainly does make for some good photography.

How much longer do we have to endure Kirby?

Surely it must soon be time for Hatch to come back.

Meanwhile Dani drones on and on.

ITV4 ad breaks are far too frequent and badly placed.

Anyhow it’s the section that might have crosswinds now…

    De Plus hits the deck.

    Ineos have their first crashee.

Van Aert also tastes the tarmac.

Pointless sprint for bugger all points causes chaos. Amazing how often accidents happen on fairly stress-free days - a bit of activity suddenly kicks off and not everybody's head is switched on to react.

    Did Jorgenson go down too?

Hope the klaxon has been dusted off and serviced.

Jorgensen also went down. Damage to right elbow and hip.

Peloton have sat up and break is now back over 8 minutes having got it down under 6. Looks like they’ll stay away and we’ll have to endure Abrahamsen in those polka dots for at least another day.

Bit confused why nobody wanted to keep the break at a catchable distance.

The peloton have completely switched off for the moment, so it’s going to be one for the breakaway.

Brings into question whether there will be any GC action at all, given the bonus seconds will already have been bagged.

The best puncheurs for this stage are all GC contenders, and none wanted to put their teams to work.

UAE don't even really have a team until they get to the high mountains, Nils Pollitt looked at the break and said "nope, not controlling that".

Cav group falling back a touch on the climb here but will remake contact, Jakobsen looks to be struggling badly though

Cav was alert to the Lanterne threat and he's let the peloton slip completely, minute and a half now. Jakobsen still has over a minute on him behind.

Bit of quandary for a few teams on GC
