Scoreline is totally fair- Italy have done nothing.

Tears, in Rome.

Meh, you should all be listening to Orbital Chimes.

Neither of these teams look very good.

Ridiculous penalty that one.

I think the German press and fans got a little carried away at the start of the tournament. Good side but not an outstanding one (yet).
I suspect they may well be going out to Spain in a qtr final.

Would like to point out the German coach dropped the Bundasliga player of the year because he didn’t fit into the system.

That sounds familiar 😉

Don't know what you could possibly be referring to 🤔😅

The wider issue is the ridiculous rules, especially around handball and offside. VAR just enforces the stupidity.
0 -
Nope. Football rules, ball crossing lines aside, are not about millimetres or nicks or anything like that. They are not science and they are not exact.
Plus, the main reason why var is shit; var absolutely robs everyone of the joy of scoring.
It is properly shit. Get rid of it.

They really need to get back to having the handball law based on any intent from the player, it's incredible how VAR has been used to make a complete farce of it. I turned off as soon as that penalty was awarded, I can't watch something so stupid.
I'd like to know if any ex-players are involved in deciding the guidelines for how laws are being interpreted under VAR because on the evidence we are seeing I find it difficult to believe.

What is wrong is how it is used. They have got VAR the wrong way round. It should be to confirm that the rules have been applied correctly but they have introduced new rules so they can use VAR.
Go back to the rules pre-VAR and only use it if the officials have made a clear and obvious error. Simple.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Anyway, this is how the English are really making their mark on the tournament eh? Petty, stupid, nonsensical refereeing.
Ruined a good game.

Yes, I turned it off after the penalty too.
Can't quite believe that was even against the current rules/guidance.

We have different views on "clear and obvious" Funny thing is I think you'd prefer my definition. 😂

Only allow full speed replays. It’s by definition not clear and obvious if you have to slow things down, enlarge sections or draw lines on the screen.

Worst of all worlds was when the TV audience could see a mistake had been made and the ref wasn't allowed to know about it.
Second worst is now, when they are looking for a reason to disallow every goal.

You've missed the next step which is that VAR now spends its time trying to come up with reasons not to disallow every goal with a slightly random outcome.

Everyone knows that. The premier league just voted on VAR and this was one of the factors.

You are getting closer to the point of VAR. Officials regularly do not see infringements with their naked eyes.
Or see things incorrectly.

You say that like the numpties implementing it will somehow avoid 5 minute reviews next season.
Personally, I think VAR should have a 20 second time limit and the replays should only be assessed at 1x playback speed.
Three VARs and a camera angle each with a default "no" vote to overturn a decision.
It would put a stop to this appalling groupthink.
