Pog v Vin, who win?

Is it just me or is the route a bit decaff? The two decent Alpine stages are two weeks apart. Two mountain stages in the Pyrenees.
Maybe Im being down on stage 20 out of Nice.
Not saying it wont lead to decent racing (it might), but there is nothing close to the Granon stage of 2022 or the other arduous Pyreneean stage that tour.

Funny, isn't it? They went to the Giro light on climbers, now they go to the Tour light on rouleurs. You'd think they could've managed to share out their resources a little better.

We should probably start a pre-Tour discussion thread, but Lidl-Trek have confirmed this morning that Tao Geoghegan-Hart won't be starting the Tour due to a fractured rib/Covid double whammy.

Pollitt and Wellens will be on breakaway duty, you would imagine

to blok the other teams going after Pog as he attacks from 120 kms out?

So that's 3 weeks of doing everything, bar the mountains.. It's a lot of work, got to hope neither crash early on

Fractured rib combined with a virus that makes you cough a lot isn't ideal! He's not had much luck since that Giro win.

True. But to be fair, that Giro win was the result of a massive amount of luck so maybe he's still paying that back.
To be clear, I'm not saying he didn't earn the win, just that the circumstances conspired to give him a likely once in a career opportunity to win the Giro, which he took with both hands.

Yeah, that's a fair point. It feels like a few recent Giro winners have gone on to have a run of bad luck though.

Finally! Some intrigue to the TdF. Not that I wish bad on Pog.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
If he's obliged to sit on Sivakovs wheel, I wouldn't like Pogs chances of getting round unscathed.

Bringing back Soler and Ayuso?

Sprinters teams will control sprint stages. Pollitt and Wellens will mostly be used for break monitoring on lumpy stages and general water carrying

The race leader's team need to control the race enough that the sprinters teams think it's worthwhile to chase. That means keeping any breakaway both manageable in size, so no more than six riders, and close enough that the sprint teams can close the gap.
