Oh, sure, Labour will screw things up sooner or later. It'll help them (and the UK) to have a good opposition. If I had the patience I'd go back to my posts suggesting to you directly that the Tories with their 80-seat majority and a weak opposition would not be good for the good governance of the UK. The same applies, in reverse now, which is why I hope a decimated Tory Party comes to its senses sooner rather than later and rediscovers honesty and pragmatism, and the loons waddle off to RUK and oblivion.
You can think of my wish for Tories to have a massive thrashing at this election as a way of helping them, ultimately, as they just seem to have completely lost their heads. And I'll stick to my thesis that it woz Brexit that made them lose their heads, as they had to persuade themselves and the voters that 2+2 = 5.

For a long time I couldn't see them actually going through with a hard Brexit. I also wouldn't have thought they'd pass a budget that crashed the pound like the Truss budget. I also wouldn't have thought any PM would piss off home early from a D-day commemoration.
They are a long way from the mental image I had of them under Cameron and Osbourne.

Nothing lasts forever. There are other examples of political parties dying, so it's certainly possible.

I don't see where the Conservatives are going to get the votes back from in large numbers. I suspect reform voters might start feeling like Starmers gonna win whatever happens, so they may as well vote reform...I don't think the talk of "supermajorities" really bites.

I am watching the rise of Reform and wondering how that will pan out. If you read the comments from individuals who identify as disaffected Tories on the interweb, many of them are going for reform on the basis that the Tories haven't been 'sufficiently Tory' in their eyes. So if Reform support holds up then this could well have an impact as the right of centre will need to find a way to get rid of Labour and it will be difficult to do that if the vote is split (note that the level of support for Conservative plus Reform combined is fairly close to that of Labour).
As for Brexit, well you've taught me that if you don't like the outcome of a vote you can always ignore it, so I think I'll do just that with this General Election 😉

Apparently Nick Ferrari on LBS this morning asked Starmer why his wife had not been more visible during the campaign. What has that got to do with anyone, is she running for office? If she chooses to retain a private profile that is entirely her decision.

Apparently the green manifesto has a lower marginal tax rate on families with single earners in the £100-125k range than the Tories.
And Sunak tweeting something about it being a scandal Britain imports food; looking to reverse a policy and situation that's been around since about 1846, and happened to also split the Tory party then. Don't worry lads, it's only 2024....178 years later.

Does it not bother you that Starmer has effectively restricted his definition of working people ( as in 'Labour won't raise taxes on working people') to the working poor?

If you've already accepted that your taxes will rise, what's to worry about. It's not as if there's a 'no tax rises' option available.
