The boomers ate all the avocados

The abortion one is new on me.
Not sure on the life expectancy one, aside from the fact that the one number of life expectancy at birth is not actually the important one.

I particularly like the second comment about advantages young people have starting with "opportunities to travel" ignoring the fact they've done their damnedest to make it harder.

The speed with which people seem to think young people shouldn’t go on holiday because house building restrictions have made houses largely unaffordable leads me to believe that was never really an objective

I'm just establishing that we can ignore links from sources that you think are rubbish.

I can't tell you what to do, but if you want to ignore anything The Telegraph opinion pieces say, you'd generally be on safe ground, so go ahead.
There's occasionally going to be something that moves into "accepted knowledge", maybe this is one of those times. The Telegraph gives off the vibe that its opinion writers would have held out on the earth being flat for longer than most sources.

Also, Matt is a terrible cartoonist. Apparently he gets paid £650,000 (or did in 2018) for that lazy shite.

And another thing that thumb nail mugshot they use for Janet Daly gives me nightmares.

Nah, that's Billy Idol. Or is it Rab C Nesbitt?

Nope this is the closest lookilikey I could find 🤣

When you think most people choose the most flattering picture they can find for that sort of thing…

Not sure that unattractiveness is exclusive to a political group

She might have problems getting close enough.

Very on brand, lads.
Discussion turns into old men making fun of someone by making fat or ugly jokes.

I did wonder when the moral voice of Cake Stop would take a break from being ageist to wag his finger. Actually you're making assumptions about age here so you haven't even taken a break from that...
And does Secretsquirrel get a free leftie pass because he is mocking the appearance of a nasty Tory journo?

I actually commented on the poor quality of the Telegraph ‘portraits’. I never called anybody ugly.

Good bit of backpedalling but don't worry, Judge Rick has given you a free pass anyway.

You shouldn’t take criticism of the Telegraph so personally.

If criticism of the Telegraph bothered me then Cake Stop wouldn't be the place for me 🙂 I was just pointing out some leftie hypocrisy...
Anyhow, you're the one who said they got nightmares just from looking at a picture of a Tory journo, so who's the sensitive soul here? 😉

I think the old anagram springs to mind on a lot of stuff posted on here. DILLIGAF. PS I'm certainly no Greek God or slim line either.

I haven't read beyond the headline

I think anything beyond the headline would be disappointing

Are rich baby boomers driving inflation?
Wealthy retirees are spending like there's no tomorrow, which may explain why inflation isn't giving out, according to Ed Yardeni, the chief investment strategist of Yardeni Research

AKA keeping the economy afloat.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
So when they spend their wealth they're driving inflation, but when they don't spend their wealth they're not stimulating the economy and hoarding cash to give to their kids.
Which do you prefer?

Can he have a third option of exterminating anyone over 50? Obviously this will have to be a sliding scale as he ages

That's a bit extreme for Rick. Boomers are now 60 and over.

I do enjoy how you read into my posts sometimes lol.
I think it's more, when the richest and wealthiest cohort also do not have need to borrow anything, interest rates changes are inherently less effective.
Which is obviously interesting from a policy design perspective.
Combine that with house prices as they are, and you end up with a working-age-cohort who are hyper sensitive to interest rate changes, and a cohort that can shrug it off incredibly easily.

So do you prefer the Boomers to be spending their money or not?
