Vote Tory because they fucked up our relationship with the EU beyond all immediate repair?

Do you honestly read that article and not think "those numbers look ridiculous"?
42% of private school pupils having to leave within a few years? Wouldn't the parents just cut back on skiing holidays?

So given private schools have gigantically increased their fees relative to inflation over the last 15 years, almost an order of magnitude more than the vat hike, why is this hike the one that’s going to make the difference compared to all the others?

Perhaps that explains this bit of the story.
headteachers warning some parents have already started pulling their children out or cancelling places at fee-paying schools.

Don't forget the savings from cutting back on Netflix and Avocado on Toast.

Is Nigel Farage eligible to be the US ambassador to the UK?

No. That was touted as Trump's idea in the podcast I mentioned upthread.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -

Been amended.
I'm not sure it's better

That deserves a prize for the worst take of the election so far.
It's due to be in place in about 2029, so those affected would have been under 10 years old when the first lockdown happened. Time they gave something back for... not being able to see their friends at primary school?

Here you go:

Got the results of any polls that suggest that there will be an influx of pupils into them private sector?

Have another read. I'm saying most people have moved on. Maybe you haven't, but that's your problem.

I see the leader of the SNP was on TV recently saying they would eliminate child poverty. Not sure how he plans to do that unless he thinks he can tow Scotland out into the Atlantic and sink it. Which could be a win-win situation when you think about.

There's quite a gap between "42% will leave" and "more will join".
Will there be some who leave? Certainly. Will it be nearly half? Don't be daft.

Got any counter evidence?

Yes. The IFS estimates 3-7%.

"Most people have moved on" is a fairly bold statement when Brexit is clearly making a lot of people's lives harder, at a great deal of expense, with no visible benefit.
Even for those who are consigned to their lives being a bit crapper than pre 2016, and can see no way out, why would you vote for the party that inflicted it? This is the first post Brexit election so it's completely natural that the electorate want to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Does your computer only do this site and the Telegraph?
There's things called search engines.

There's an even bigger gap between 42% having a hrumph about it and those who will pull their child out of school. Also a big gap between VAT at 20% and the actual rise in fees being 20%.
It's a bit of a non story. Also a bit of a non policy really.

I thought there was a poll a few weeks ago that put the number at nearer 12%. Not entirely sure how, other than a poor or intentionally biased poll, how this nummber triples.

I'm not going to research your counter argument for you. You can post it or I can ignore what you've said.

Let's take that number for now if you want. Based on private pupil numbers of approx 600,000, that just over 70,000 extra applicants for state schools. How likely do you think it is that there are that many unfilled places in state schools?

Link doesnt work, so duly ignored.

I think there are about 88000 spare places.
