Fwiw the only real difference between all the polls are how they treat “don’t know” responses - they are showing the same results just presenting them differently aka the polling is very consistent.

Closed the gap quite significantly. I guess as a lot of sensible people start thinking harderabout the implications of putting a cross in the leftiebollox box come polling day.

And in other news, shock, horror - Labour refuse to rule out tax rises. Who would have ever expected that? 🤔 😀

Not sure about Yougov but have certainly refused to participate in polls in the past. I don't even bother to ask who's asking.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Have the Tories ruled out tax rises?

You were unsure whether Blair was a socialist yesterday, so maybe this does come as news. Tax rises are just something we've all had to get used to.

Isn't that relying on the results though!😄

It’s not the gap being closed, it’s counting “don’t knows” differently.
the Economist’s model is the most small c conservative and assumes a regression to the mean - that has Tories at a 1% chance of winning an overall majority.
They’re done Stevo and deep deep down you know it too. This lot are useless and you know it

They really really hate young people and want to meddle in their young lives:

What's bizarre is that "low quality" degree argument could and perhaps should have been made back when I was looking at universities...which was the tail end of the Labour administration!
It feels clear to me that apprenticeships can offer a really good alternative route. The fact that the Tories haven't been able to move the dial across the last 14 years suggests that they aren't quite the magic pill though.

Didn't you hear, they're the low tax party. They promised 😆.

At this point the tories are simply pissing into the wind. They know it, we know it, and their "promises" are facile*.
*arrived at or presented without due care, effort, or examination; superficial.

It's all relative Rick, as you will probably find out to your cost soon.

Do you want the next government to raise your taxes or reduce them?

They have said they intend to cut them. And have done recently, such as the recent NI cut which you will have benefitted from.

Would I like to pay more taxes. No
Can anyone who has more cognitive skill than a vegetable see that more or less any public service they interact with has been stretched past breaking point. Yes.

Some pollsters are going to look very silly on 5th July.

Diane Abbott has been banned from standing by Labour. Puts a dent in some of Stevo’s attack points.

Aren't they literally going to go up in the next few years under their current policies? Is their policy to put them up, even though we'd *like* to put them down?
Those blasted economic shocks, eh.

On face value, you appear to be endorsing a policy of the Tories being 12 points behind in the polls, which is a little odd.
Though joking aside, I admire your commitment to what is the most obvious lost cause since the Charge of the Light Brigade. That said, if I found myself in the trenches fighting moderately left of centre insurgents, I'd want you alongside me!

Just goes to show what I've said about 'goody two shoes' in the past was right.

They are describing labour not immediately matching the pensioner tax free allowance rise as a tax hike, so I guess that means they accept it's a tax hike for the rest of us.

Judging by the tone of the begging emails that I still get from Labour asking me for a bit of my hard earned, they're taking the threat more seriously than Cake Stop in general 🙂
And we could find ourselves in those trenches if Labour win...

In an ideal world, I'd want my taxes reduced. However, we live in the real world. And if that real world is to tick key boxes for me (i.e. fair and not making false economies re social "goods" such as education) then taxes are going to keep going up, with a disproportionate burden falling on me as a higher earner with a decent amount of "wealth" stacked up.

Makes sense to target those who are paid up supporters of the party.
1 -
You don't want to get into a debate about party finances and party donors do you Stevo?

I think you just forgot to tick the box to opt out of automated email correspondence when you signed up as a member.

Getting rid of Abbott and Corbyn is just Starmer trying to hide the fact that he's the second coming of Trotsky.

Seems like she's been unbanned...
(Peston saying she is after the opportunity to do the whole "With a heavy heart I have decided to stand down after_ years of loyal service with a bland statement of support/not-support from Starmer rather than actually standing again)
