Apart from anything else, there is a perverse pleasure in seeing Labour elected in affluent Devon in present circumstances. (FWIW, there are big chunks of Devon that aren't affluent at all, but that tends to get overlooked.)

In every election there's no perfect candidate, but I normally find a preference. You not voting means my preference gets priority over yours. It doesn't send a signal to anyone.

Leaving aside that postal voting is a thing and that even in the sticks polling stations are in walking distance it’s quite a clever tactic for her. Rile up the core voters and get your excuses in early for losing “I only lost because my voters couldn’t afford to drive to the polling station. It was rigged”.

This is Greater London. You'd have to try really hard to find somewhere that wasn't within walking (or mobility scooter) distance of a polling station. There are 66 polling stations in my borough alone.

Here's a piece of evidence that there is a big problem: "In London alone, more than 7 million PCNs were issued in the year ending March 2022, but in the 40,000-plus cases where drivers appealed, just under half (43%) were overturned."

Local councils should operate to reduce genuinely dangerous and irresponsible driving. If councils come to rely on surpluses from enforcement to fund wider spending, this risks an incentive to take a disproportionate approach to technical or minor breaches by well-intentioned drivers.
Call me idealistic, but I think cars should not be in bus or bike lanes, people should not drive through no entry signs or turn right where there's no right turn, however "well intentioned" the driver may be when making these technical breaches.

just over a quarter of a percent doesn't seem like a bad rate of overturned cases.
There are so many more that go uncaught, I don't see much evidence that they are being disproportionately targeted. I had a box van nearly run me over this morning turning down a no entry street from a segregated cycle lane, he was driving down the cycle lane next to this subway!

In the response, it gives you the opportunity to tick a box saying whether you think it is fair, then in the comments, to say how it could be made fairer.
I'm worried that my suggestion that it is unfair because there is not enough enforcement will get misinterpreted.

Seems like a win-win, fewer people blocking box junctions etc so traffic flows better, or more money to spend fixing potholes if they keep doing it and get fined.
I don't see why any non-terrible drivers would object.
