MvdP monster acceleration on the stationsberg at 58km to go and WvA can just about hang onto his wheel and no-one else.

Ah it’s a Belgian beer day today. Love this race so I have ramped things up from a Chimay trippel to a Westmalle.

Obviously this is training for the Ronde, next weekend.🥳😂

WvA crash!!! at the foot of the Paterberg - just as MvdP accelerates. Oof.

    Ouch....

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

MvdP carries on solo. 43km to go. 7 seconds so far on a solo chaser - Navarez who's another 10 seconds ahead of quite a big group.

MvdP 24 seconds on the chasing group now.

Ironically, the man most effected by WVA’s tumble was Matteo Jorgensen

Chase group has too many people who are pleased to be there. No concerted chase. Visma have 2 in the group including wva so not likely to give a good chase yet.

Weird seeing the Paterberg * before* the Kwaremont.

35 seconds at 39km to go.

It the boss in black shorts today?

If yes, he'll win. If in white, he'll not win.

(Only 2 races he hasn't won since his cross season started were when he wore white shorts.)

    Mads Pedersen missing.

Trek have Stuyven and Skiujins in the chase group

I think the group will eventually catch WVA.

His chase is over unless MvDP punctures.

Agree: the photo Motos have mostly binned WVA and headed off up the road. It's all over bar a mechanical.

WvA has blown and Stuyven has attacked out of G3 and is going after him. 5km to go

Visma could still get 2nd and 3rd out of this, if they play it right

When Stuyven caught WVA I thought Jorgensen was probably favourite for 2nd place.

Rather a sad surrender in the end.

A rider in the top 10 having animated the chase for at least 30 seconds? I guess the sponsor would probably have signed for that at the start.

That's a bit harsh. Narvaez was a constant presence in the race for at least the last 40 kms, and was in the fight for a podium place up until the final few kilometres.

Let's not forget, he's from Ecuador, and these conditions are pretty alien to him but he's consistently shown that he knows how to race these races.

The 3 "big teams in this race were VLAB, Alpecin and Lidl. So to have one of their riders in the front group alongside 4 riders from those 3 teams seems to be a good return. UAE would be equally as happy with equally as big a budget, relatively speaking
