    Neutralising the race

That replay is brutal. Looks like Jonas hit the edge of the ditch and then was run over by another rider.

Who was the UAE rider poleaxed in the ditch?

I can't recall Vingegaard crashing before, he seems to have a charmed career since becoming well known until today.

Is the neutralisation due to all the medical cover being required at the crash?

Primoz leaving in a team car rather than the ambulance.

Stage neutralised for the peloton. Breakaway apparently racing for the victory.

Yes, all race ambulances have been used to carry the most seriously injured riders to hospital.

Looks the stage has been abandoned.

They're moving again but still neutralised. No commentary on my D+ feed so not sure what is happening.

    That was horrible.

Breakaway going to race to the finish but the peloton not.

Ineos still riding on the front though!

Jeez, I'd been on the ambient sound feed and just switched to commentary. Wish I hadn't

Six riders racing with no worry about the peloton catching them. Very odd.

Surely if Meintjes wants it, it's his with that climb to come.

I'm struggling to understand what is happening. Have they cancelled the stage but are letting what was the break race it out for a stage win?

The stage win will be awarded to the first rider from the break to cross the line, everyone, including the peloton will be given the same time.

Seems totally bizarre forcing 6 riders to push on for a win that won't be acknowledged.

Kirby, having been telling us since the race resumed, that the riders shouldn't race now tells us 'not to blame the riders for racing'.

I was going to warn you. Kirby has his desired outcome on me. I was forced to switch off.

Ironically, I expect him to be commentating on the Hell of the North on Sunday.

I really think he should take the day off. I don’t think he will be able to deal with the carnage that new d’Arenberg safety precaution is going to cause.

Given a chance to get his second only WT win, why would he not take it?

Anyhow, what we know for definite is that all the riders that left in ambulances are off to hospital!

Jay Vine is conscious and talking being the only concrete info regarding those who looked the most seriously injured.

According to some of the local riders there are tree roots just under the surface of the tarmac that are very difficult to see but can cause you to jump. THe corser seems like an ideal place to add a barrier of some sort, given the concrete culvert and the huge f***-off boulders

The only update from Visma thus far is that Jonas is conscious.
