Most of the people who annoy me with phones are your age or younger, whether this is listening to videos on public transport without headphone or holding the damn thing in front of their mouth, on speaker mode because it's nowhere near their ear.

Technique #1 is really easy although it helps to be next to a wall for balance. I also like the way it works on both sides despite the left one being threaded the other way. I know that is the reason it is threaded the other way, but nonetheless, I like the fact that I don't need to think about which way to turn.

A very large hamper arrived to say congratulations.

I don’t want to sound ungrateful but a) they didn’t say who it’s from and I’ve asked around and b) it’s an enormous basket of fruit which will all be off by the time anyone is home long enough to eat. And it’s not the kind of fruit you want hanging around a ward - pineapples, mangos etc.

I’m stuck with it now, and space is already at a premium.

Argh, trying to sort out my 60+ SNCF card to but a TGV ticket for April (by when I'll be 60). They've let me buy the card (49€ - pays for itself in a couple of trips), but won't let me register it to my account for buying tickets, as I'm not over 60 yet, so can't apply the 30% discount to the journey I want. Grrr. Asking Seat61 on Twitter (he knows more about railway stuff than anyone) if he knows how to do it, but his first idea (try it through Trainline) didn't work.

Stick the fruit in a blender, put the resulting goop into ice cube trays and freeze/bag it to save it as baby food for when the time comes.

I mean Christ alive if I find any time before it goes off. All the posting I do here is just when I am waiting for pick up/doctors. Rest of the day till 10pm I am pulled from pillar to post.

of all the times in my life, a newborn in hospital with the mother there 24:7 is one of the few where I don’t have the time

Suspect that there would be lots of offers to pick up from your house at a moment's notice if you use any other soshul meejja to let local organisations know. Though can see that a box of rotting fruit isn't high on your list of things to sort out, even if you did tell us about it.

Rear mech cable snapped inside shifter on my hybrid that's on the turbo and I don't think I have a spare hoarded anywhere. Better get one ordered!

I've taken to getting them in 10s or 20s, having way more than I need, and trying to replace them more frequently. The Shimano 105s I've got barely seem to last a year, especially the 11-speed, as it flexes tightly in two different planes.

The first contestant on Popmaster today - what an annoying ****. Boomer for you.

Edit - had to turn off in the end as he went off on yet another rambling story about his time in NZ when given his 60 seconds of shout outs. Must have mentioned being in NZ 5 or 6 times and it was his excuse for any questions he got wrong (obviously he got all the bonuses right on the other player's questions too). Even Ken Bruce was sounding fed up with him.
