Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

I only drink espresso, don't like coffee flavoured milkshake

Can't drink it that way - radio therapy and all that. Wish I could but i'm missing a few layers of the stomach lining.

That's dull, but on the bright side you're still here to tell the tale. Never had radiotherapy, but still have some after effects of chemo. Very trivial annoyance given the alternative.

I get chided by French & Italian friends if I add even just a little hot water to an espresso. Defo no milk or anything else though... yuck.

Meh. I think our friends from Seattle which lets face it has a climate just as shit as ours, nailed it and have been super successful for a reason.

I'm not sure spending silly money on a coffee machine is any sillier than rescuing ageing German sports cars or a bad Lego habit (which I thoroughly endorse, by the way). FWIW, I prefer my milk unfrothed.

Needing tickets in advance for everything. This is particularly the case for some of London's big free museums.

At least the 'bad Lego habit' is paying for itself and a bit more, which offsets the dodgy old German banger costs and if you like a flat white, then i'm not going to argue.
I can drive the dodgy old banger to some place that sells good coffee.
New module out soon, btw.

Seems to be a Covid thing that never went away. It’s worked OK in some areas for me e.g the Council brought in an appointment system for the recycling centre that they kept. During Covid it was hard to get a slot but now I can get one next day and probably the same day and not have to sit in a queue for an hour. Same with my barber, they do take walk ins but appointments get priority. I used to regularly have to wait for an hour (and they are really fast turning customers around). As you say though it is annoying with a lot of things where you used to turn up and not really need to queue.

One I’ve started spotting recently- an upsurge in the use of dry robes, especially people who just use them as a normal coat when out walking. They used to be the domain of open water swimmers and the like to get warm and dry and they’re great for that but now they’ve become a general fashion accessory.

Couldn't they just cut a hole in the foot end of a sleeping bag, a couple of holes in the sides for the arms, stick their head and arms through the appropriate holes? They wouldn't look any sillier.

FFS! Why is it everytime there is a hint of football BBC1 scraps its schedule and panders to the few that might watch it?
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Are there licensing reasons they can’t show it on the various spare channels that few people watch? ITV do much the same.

You've about 23 too many words in that post. 😉

"BBC1...panders...few"? 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Football massively outguns all other TV ratings wise, and it's one of the few things left that people watch live rather than whenever they want on iPlayer.

There's also this thing about sport where people like to watch it happening live.
It is actually pretty much the only live TV I watch now, and then only rarely.

Triple feeding f*cking brutal isn't it? Wife is basically just a shell at the moment and I'm already back at work, FML atm.

Bad luck RC.
I'm sure you've considered it, but sounds like you could do with some compassionate leave till your family is out of the woods. There's only so much even a youngster like you can cope with.

It's not easy. Do what it takes to survive and little more.

Yeah, it's all a bit shit, but make sure you look after yourself first. If you break, it'll be even worse. I valued a boss who told me to go home when I was trying to do too much after my head bounce. Sometimes being self employed stinks.

Sure. Football is still trivial and annoying.

I spoke to one of my clients for the first time in a while today, who runs his own firm. He looked like a shell and had been off with stress for 3+ months.
It really can happen.

The interesting thing about becoming a parent is realising just how little sleep you can survive on. Not ideal obviously, but for the cricket fans it can be excellent if timed with an overseas tour.

It's remarkable how soon you forget too, when my second daughter came along, the first was nearly 3 and in my head I was still sleep deprived from early mornings etc but the baby stage hits a lot harder.
We found the best workaround early on was for us to sleep in shifts (wife went to bed at 8ish, I stayed up until 11ish and did a bottle feed before going to sleep in the spare room) although that did mean we didn't meaningfully interact in the evening for a month or two.
It's tough Rick, i feel for you.

Oh, seriously!!? FFFFFFFS!!!
So the LNB on the end of our ex-Sky now Freesat dish has come to the end of its life. Sun damage plastic and it fills with water. So it has an older Mk3 arm. New ones have Mk4 arms and different fittings. You can get (if you are lucky) an adaptor to fit the old arm BUT that only fits the older LNBs that have a 37/38mm diameter collar. No one sells these anymore. They are all 40mm. You cannot get a Mk3 arm to 40mm adaptor. Nowhere. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Searching on the web shows thousands of frustrated people with this issue. It's nuts. If you could get the adaptor it would cost about £15ish. The new LNB cost about £15. You can get a whole new dish and LNB for £35 but then you have to fit this to the wall. My ladder isn't quite long enough to do this. It's fine if I'm just changing the LNB as I did this 13 years ago. Now it looks like I'm going to have to fork out for a new installation.
Bloody boll@cks,sir!

Because not all channels are available to stream and sometimes the web does fail.
