Feels like this forum is in its death throes sadly. Traffic has been noticeably down since the closure and redesign. Much more of this spamfest could kill it off completely.

Just had a spam-flagging sesh. All of Freya's gone for now, and Curtis5 down to three.
Doesn't anyone know how to contact an admin bod direct to say "WTF are you up to?"?
I'd be sad to see the forum die completely.

The thing is, the publisher would have to actually want to forum to continue. The reason it exists is to keep some core traffic coming to the site. But since you can't get to the main site from it, and the numbers have dwindled (it is an old form of not all that social media after all), the main site seems to be sustained now by reviews that direct people to particular vendors. And to some ailing magazines.

I've assumed it is a dead thing anyway - since the "re-launch" the whole Forum has been very noticeably free of all the advertising that used to pop up everywhere. I've made no changes to my machine(s) to filter anything at all, so the obvious conclusion is nobody is paying to put ads on here.
That's not gonna last long as a business model.

I suspect you're right about nothing happening over the weekend, I'll check in every now and then to see if things have been cleaned up, but having flagged hundreds of posts yesterday I've had enough.

They only get taken down after 5 spam flags, not 4 spam and 1 abuse, it seems. I've just done a pile.
Really surprised that admin is so asleep at the wheel, and that no-one seems to know how to contact them. If someone had posted terrorist/death threats, I assume they'd just stay up for a few days until someone bothered to log in. Also surprised they went to the bother of 'updating' the platform then just to leave it to fester under a ton of spam. Kinda basic, I'd have thought, even if it isn't a commercial focus.

Intrigued:
a) why are the spambots firing in so many similar looking posts, filling up the forum with clear shite that no one with a 1/10th of a brain, even a #toryscum fanboi, is going to click on. Competition trying to kill off the forum?
b) why did the forum software 'upgrade' leave it wide open to spambots? Owners trying to kill off the forum?

a) I can only guess that once you've set up a spambot that it just, er, spams, exploiting vulnerable sites... it doesn't go "Er, do you think I'm overdoing it?"
b) No polite way of putting this... naivety or carelessness.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your patience. I have, this morning, deleted most if not all of the recent spam, and banned the associated users. I have also implemented a couple of additional sign-up measures in order to (try and) avoid future spam attacks.

@George_Scott it seems some people are having trouble logging in, @Stevo_666 reports he can't log in on laptop, tablet or phone using Chrome or Edge browsers. He can see the forum but can't log in. @TheBigBean seems to be having similar issues from a lapttop, but I'm not sure what browsers he's on.

Just to add to the above Stevo says when clicking the 'login' buttons he gets a 'page not found' error.

Hi everyone,
A couple of quick updates:
- I have passed on the information about login issues to our tech team. If there is any additional info or context (browser or any specific detail that helps isolate the problem) then that's useful. Otherwise, unless the issue can be replicated, or the source of the problem isolated, it's tricky to get to the bottom of
- Apologies for the forum outage over the weekend. This shouldn't have happened, but was related to a security update following the spam attacks last month.
