Congratulation Rick and family.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Ah, but that is my wording, not my Dad's. I'll have to try and draw the sentence out of him naturally to check. 😉

Great news! May the chaos continue for the next 20 years. And likely beyond...

Yes, congratulations the the growing family Chasey. Some rather more trivial good news, car just passed it's MOT.

Rather a wrinkle so long stays in hospital on the cards but all under control.
Never straightforward!

Taking the thread down market, anyone seen that Metro headline about the cold snap?

Had to look - is that the flying debris bit as we get hammered by snow and ice? I don't know how I'm going to survive a week of hard frosts!

Seems to have been headlines about cold snaps and 'walls of snow' due to hit the UK since early last month. They are probably figuring that eventually they'll be right, a bit like the proverbial stopped clock.

Err, no. A very NSFW headline. Assume it was a sub-ed's last day.

I guess this doesn't come as any great surprise. "Gaza? What's Gaza?"

We are in a perilous state. We have terrorists committing horrendous acts, a country committing genocide, and a country on the side fuelling the fire and perfectly willing to openly attack anyone, just cos.

Was meaning to comment on this a few days ago but got sidetracked by work...
IMHO Niedle is correct that the compensation payments will not be tax deductible for the Post Office. For an expense to be tax deductible it needs to be 'wholly and exclusively' for the purposes of a trade and giving compensation in this way is generally seen as not passing that test. Also according to a techy tax article I saw that went into a fair bit more detail.
As for not solvent, not sure, but as the Post Office is 100% owned by the state, it will get more government funding to support it.

For all his self-promotion and hyperbole, I'm guessing he's not entirely ignorant about the legalities of tax schemes, and it's no bad thing to help bring mega-dodgy stuff to the public eye and to try to explain it simplish terms.

Given his facebook profile says 'Lawyer advising businesses on tax, EU law, international law.' you would expect him to know a bit about this stuff. Although the article I read disagrees with him on the secondary point, which is the tax treatment of the support from the government. Just goes to show that tax is often complex and open to different interpretations.
However while this is clearly a big error by the PO (or even dishonesty) in the tax treatment of the compensation, the PO is 100% owned by the state so any extra tax and penalties due is effectively the government levying tax on itself.

Surprised to see a Telegraph report highlighting the civilian death toll in Gaza, and the plight of WCWNSF (wounded children with no surviving family). Up to recently they've been largely supportive of Israel.

Good to see a rapid response by forum admins to ~5 pages of spam!🤣

What do the scum that span a board like this get out of it?
Nothing dealt with yesterday and today it's even worse. It's been happening too frequently since the change of platform too - surely the software designers of message boards like this can design some sort of blocking for the shite.

There will be various settings to mitigate it but nobody has bothered to turn them on.

spammers' business model is pretty much zero cost per slice
even if only one in hundreds of thousands engages, there's profit to be had
think of it as a selection process, anyone who does fall for it is likely to be gullible, desperate or just stupid, making them ripe for picking

Boeing not having a great time at the moment. Glad I'm not working in their PR department right now: it's going to take quite an effort to turn this around, especially as the wheels have metaphorically come off too.
