Sounds like Peston (other than the authoritative background loaded with expertise bit.

It's a pity that the media (generally) because of how it garners attention (and hence income) doesn't do balanced debate well, so individual outlets rarely do all the 'buts', especially in headlines. Even worse now that popularity is measured by 'clicks' and 'audience engagement' (says the person who does exactly that with photographs of France).

Most professional economists I know quite like Chris Giles - it's only BB who is triggered by him.

Please find me one.

In fairness to the FT (having now read the article), they did include some balance.
Here is Dan Neidle's comment
The Post Office has claimed a £934m tax deduction for its compensation payments to the victims of the Post Office scandal. That’s outrageous – and also unlawful. The consequence is that the Post Office has underpaid its corporation tax by over £100m over the last five years, and may no longer be solvent.
"Outrageous" and "unlawful" for something that may be perfectly fine.
"may no longer be solvent" due to £100m.

No wikipedia page, but does have a degree in economics (as does @surrey_commuter ), so I'm not persuaded. Has he tweeted that he thinks Chris Giles knows what he is talking about? I just can't imagine anyone doing that.

I mean, he runs one of the most well known EMD funds in the City - which is one big macro economist job only you have to put your money where your mouth is.
He also has written a fair bit here: https://www.ft.com/stream/d3e83b73-4e23-3b55-8cd8-12e828113b20

Depressing

Indeed, but not surprising - he's 'captured' the party almost completely.

Some analysts believe that independents still don't think republicans will be stupid enough, and this is giving a misleading impression of the national vote. When faced with a stark choice of old and older, where old is also probably going to cause a third world war, is sexist, racist, fascist and a criminal, a few might not vote for him.

Last night's ITV programme on the return of Trump was pretty depressing.

Yeah but it's ITV. Is your iq above 80?

I made the bob sled.
What's magpie?

When the Rwandan government looks like the more sensible/reasonable one in comparison with the UK government...

Magpie, and TISWAS.

Eh, yes. Question does not compute. I was too old to require permission when the subversive C4 launched. 😉

I think it was my parents' aspiration to be middle class that looked down on 'commercial TV'. Later on, at least we had the benefit of having two (black & white) TVs, so when things like Not The Nine O'Clock News came on (and other degenerate programmes, even ones on commercial TV) which were not to my parents' taste, I had the option of escaping to watch them. Probably why I'm such a terrible person.

Sorry, how sad. Middle class is such a bland label to aspire to.

Mind you, Mum took the Telegraph for about 60 years, so maybe she was already middle class, whatever that is.

If it makes you feel better, my Dad has followed his Dad's example and buys the Express daily. His opinions are based 100% on this.

Anyone else coming to the opinion that Iran might be kicking things off a lot bigger than we hope? A whole lot bigger.

Minor news, Master Chasey decided to turn up 4 and a half weeks early.
Find it mad we were all born once but every birth is so dramaric.
All good, lad just needs to pass a few consecutive tests and we can gtf out of this hospital.

Congrats to la famille Chasey. Hope tests are passed with flying colours.

I think you have highlighted a difference right there, He buys the Express whereas Brian’s mum ‘took’ the Telegraph (I assume she paid for it and wasn’t a kleptomaniac).

Congratulations.
