I've finally taken the plunge into the world of powermeters with some Powertap P1 pedals.
I've also bought some proper wheels for my TT bike; HED Stinger 9s (couldn't justify some Enves). Very happy bunny as they've been a while coming.0 -
Argh - it's really not fair. Having just bought the Jamis Renegade Bike-Discount have sent me the notification that Di2 upgrade kit for discs is in stock again!!! Mind you, means I'll be able to strip the 6800 Ultegra straight off the bike before use and sell "as new".
Anybody any views on how best to sell components - as a job lot or individually?ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

Well, it depends what you can sell the bits you aren't using for: F&R hydraulic brifters and calipers, Ultegra FD and RD. Whatever they sell at off the £750 upgrade kit. Using "man maths", I can also throw in the £350 discount that Evans gave meROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

I'm 'lit up like a Christmas Tree' as my work colleagues keep saying year round with 9 rear lights. One on the mudguard, three on the back of the pannier rack, two on the seat post and two on my helmet with number 9 hanging off the pannier bag.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

I bought a leyzne macro rear light which claims 70lm blast daytime mode should last 3 hours well mine was indicating red after 50 mins.
Faulty unit or just BS marketing?
I find the macro drive duo on front only lasts about an hour before it goes amber, however I did test it way back and it stayed on for about 5 hoursRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

I don't really see why the number of dark rides you do means that you need 9 rear lights. I used to ride 5 months a year in the dark. There must come a point that the number of lights you are running will become distracting and possibly make you less safe. 2 or 3 good lights would seem more than adequate. It's obviously up to you.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
I don't think having too many lights can ever be a bad thing unless they're stupidly bright.
The three on the rack will look like one from any kind of distance anyway. Same with the seat post to a degree too I would've thought.
I agree that switching 9 on would be a ball ache though, I've got two on the back and three on the front and that seems like hard enough work.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

9 rear lights! That is indeed overkill! I use 3 rear lights (a Smart 1W, a Lezyne Zecto Drive Pro, and the Lezyne Macro Duo that I alerted everyone about. I also have a variety of reflectives (pedals, clothing, rucksack). If they fail to see me it is their fault. Front, I use a Phillips SafeRide and the Lezyne Macro Duo again, one for the road, the other to point at possible obstacles / dangers. I use that one in the lowest setting. I also have an spare Smart 0.5W in my bag just in case.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Just got a Cannondale CAAD12 Ultegra - got from Germany as much cheaper, but forgot they have the front brake on the left...cue me re-cabling (internal) and re-taping the bars :-( still need new pedals and to put the zondas on it. Lovely though!0

Hope you don't mind, but it sounds like in a moment of boredom you bought way too much stuff and feel like you need to justify it, hence use as much as you can.
IMO less is more... the more bikes you have, the fewer the chance of getting the right bike out on the day... same for clothing, wheels, tyres, lights, anything really.
The darker the lanes you ride on, the more light you need at the front (up to a point, I think anything above 600 Lumen is totally unnecessary) and the less you need at the back... being dark, even a tiny 5 quid LED is plenty visibleleft the forum March 20230 -
I disagree on the rear light, whilst they don't need to be as bright, there's no way I'd be riding on unlit NSL roads with a single rear light. Redundant lighting is particularly important at the back.
Nine is a bit excessive, mind. I usually have two, but with my new overshoes I sometimes go up to four.0 -

What you would or would not do is irrelevant... I met people who used two condoms, that doesn't mean it's necessary.
Assuming the car behind you has lights, one rear red light is more than enough... in fact, if you could trust the reflective material to do its job in all conditions, that would also be enough with no lights.
In urban areas, which are lit to an extent, you might need a bit more to stand out from the other sources of lighting.
