Snap. Cost me £1200 and I spent well over that on repairs in a year. Never buying French again.

Tell me about it. in 3 years.....

    head gasket
    power steering pump
    camshaft
cylinder head + another head gasket
    complete engine rebuild
disks + 2 sets of pads
    wheel bearings
    tensioner pulley
    exhaust
    various filters

so, I've spent about 2 grand, to repair a car that only cost me a grand to start with

Oh yeah, and today, it's back in the garage again.

You think that's bad, my Scenic cost over £ 3k in exceptional repairs despite buying brand new with a warranty for £ 14k. Sold it after 4 years and it was only worth £ 2.8k, absolute bag of sh1te.

Clio's not much better, air bag exploded inside the passenger seat when it shouldn't have, destroyed the seat. Renault dealership took 9 weeks to repair it and in the process destroyed the abs braking system and a £ 400 circuit board in the dashboard (what any of that had to do with the airbag I've no idea). Oh and when I picked it up (just getting dark) jus before I got on the motorway I discovered I had no head lights, low & high beam elements in both bulbs had been burnt out, had to limp it back to the garage on front fogs.

Then there's the bonnets on Clios tha just open themselves at 70 miles an hour, down to users not maintaing and servicing the bonnet catch according to Renault, funny can't see it mentionned anywhere in the service manual.

Now drive a Honda which touch wood which so far has been OK, and the Clio's going in a skip as soon as I can afford a proper car (it's probably only worth £3.50 now, at least I bought that one from Motorpoint, £ 2k off the list price 8) . Oh and while we're on useless inventions:

    Satellite TV by SKy
    JVC DVD player
    Zanussi cookers
    John Lewis Tumble Driers

all have bust in the last 10 days, so much for things coming in 3s

Mods, please feel free to move this to moaning thread if it's more appropriate

Buy Toyota, 5 years warranty, and in most researches the
toyota cars pass the tests with minimum repairs, compared to other cars.

Useless: diet coke, how much fat does an ordinary coke contains?:lol:
  • Tell me about it. in 3 years.....

    In one year:

Entire exhaust from the manifold backwards
Entire brake system (got in the car one morning, pulled away, tried braking and the pedal went straight to the floor. Turns out all the fluid had leaked out without warning)
    New battery
Weird clicking noise coming from the steering column. Believe it was a relay ticking on and off really fast. Then the steering column caught fire on the motorway.
Indicator stalk wouldn't hold in place when turning right.
Went though several tyres, which to be fair are consumables.
    New windscreen
When I was selling it, opened the bonnet to show someone around inside and one of the bolts holding the bonnet in place sheared off. Couldn't close the bonnet.

Overall, including what I paid for the car, around £2500. Sold it for £850 after just over a year.

Start earning proper money in a month, so will soon be able to buy myself something nice.
