Where's everyone riding this weekend?

bearded dave - you'd love the alps. the only problem is that once you've ridden there, everything else you ride seems a bit bland. if you go guided, and explain what level you are, and what you enjoy riding, you'll have no problems with the trails at all. it's all decending - virtually no pedalling up in some of the most stunning scenery EVER. and your riding will improve massively. who could dislike that?

The plan for Snowdon, as far as I'm aware, is to ride up the Llanberis path and down the Rangers Path. Not sure if that's still the case. I haven't really gotten invovled with the planning of this trip, so I'm just doing what I'm told!

do NOT go down the rangers path UNLESS you go up it. because you will only be asking for trouble.
rangers path has slanted rock slide boards and hidden rock drops. ok if you walk up and spot them on the way down i promise it will be to late as you WILL be off..

Biking in Guisborough Woods this weekend, fantastic MTB spot. And a week on Saturday i'm off to Les Arcs. Can't wait to go, been looking forward to the Alps for ages.

as you ride up the Llanberis path you will see the pitfalls and there is also more room for bikers / walkers on the Llanberis path on the way down..

Hey Dave, now you have passed your test, how about joining me and buying a Bongo!!!![8D] Look at the Members Gallery
They are Jap imports and great for MTBers that need to travel to tails - I honestly think I have found the perfect MTB vehicle. They have a double bed in the roof and another inside when the seats are layed flat [:I]. Or you can move all the seats forward for loads of boot space, or remove them completely.
I'm taking mine on a few tours later this year (when i get it). Come on, you laugh, but you'll all be getting one soon.
I only answer to the name of Bongostu from now on [^]...
..hello...anybody there??...HELLOOOOO

depends how you go about it. i did the cheap option both times of getting the train (carrying bike bags around paris can be VERY painful though) and renting a chalet and getting a map and finding the trails ourselves (which worked really well). i think i spent on travel & accomodation under œ250 for a week.
however, if you go guided, it will be more expensive. but you won't have to worry about feeding yourself, finding the trails, finding a bike shop if you have a mechanical etc.

Stu, someone I work with recommended I get a Bongo! Am I right in thinking that some of them have a shower? Ideal for bike cleaning!

Yep, they do a full conversion, but the things are small enough anyway, so I'm not sure it's practical, but the specs are endless. They are actually quite cheap (although they are making more money this year than last).
I want to use it to take the kids away in. We will use a separate awning though. It's really just a weekend (days at the beach) thing and the odd night out at the trails. If I don't like it, I'll sell it I guess. May of well give it a go - some of the Bongo community is a little scary though, so I don't plan to get too "involved" in that!

You'll have to keep us posted on how you get on with the Bongo. I'm planning to get a little van soon, to start off with, but want to build up to something a bit bigger. I'm thinking the A-Team van would be ideal!

Why don't you head a bit further north and join the Guisborough Woods forum ride. Dalbys good, but IMO Guisboroughs better if you go with someone who knows the area.
