Ok i've worked out how many miles i do on a full tank of petrol in my old toyota corolla...
36 litres of petrol got me 280 miles.
a random website tells me this is <b>35.36mpg</b>.
is that good/bad/standard?

Pretty good for a petrol.

That's pretty meh. I used to average 35mpg on my focus, once achieved 40mpg, had tanks where i got 28mpg.
A more modern petrol driven sensibly will do 40mpg average. Some of the smaller cars will do 50mpg.
Currently enjoying 55mpg in my new mondeo.

I'd say thats rather good for a petrol, if you drive like a corpse you could squeeze some more.
In the car I've been learing to drive I've been getting less than 10MPG and I've killed it.
Better learn not to drive like a tw<s></s>at.
And the Range Rover I had a go in (3900Cc Turbo) does less than 12Mpg not matter what you do.

I'm contemplating on getting a car that does many, many less miles per gallon.
Because I can.

I'm currently getting 33 mph, on a run with the Cake Mobile (2 litre petrol Grand Espace). It's about half that round town. [:(]
Mrs C.'s Audi A4 1.9Tdi has done 72 mpg on a run. Overall average is in the mid 50's.

Just the four. And of course it was the safety of my children that was paramount in the decision to purchase this car/van/bus. Nothing at all to do with the fact that I can fit 5 people and 5 mountain bikes inside it. [:D]

why buy a petrol though? yes their faster and not laughed at, but diesels are more economical, especialy if you take long runs and have a family to feed

four, fair enough then. My old neighbour had one, for his only child, maybe they're were going to fit a bouncy castle in the back or something.

Moderatly, it will leave a Porsche Boxxer behind!
And with the amount of torque it will leave everyone behind at the lights.
Also what about the 4.somethingL sports Range Roves? They are fast as feck.

Er they'd be petrol then!
The new diesel for the RR isn't out yet, when it is out its going to match the current v8 petrol for perfomance apparently and from experience thats not very fast!
