No mistakes by Hodgkinson, looks a different level and totally in control. Barely breathing at the end.

Sod it, I am going to tempt fate. Unless someone trips her up tomorrow, that is a nailed on gold.

Keely did a little heart to the camera, I think it was directed at me! 😃

Wouldn’t be too disappointed if Wayne Kerr messes up in the 1500m coming up to be honest. Can certainly tell he’s been based in the US.
0 -
Is that his real name 🧐
0 -
Should be, arrogant twat.
0 -
Mind you I don’t like Ingebrigsten either.
0 -
I’ve got no problem with his confidence, he believes he’s the best and might well be.

I don’t mind confidence but for me Kerr (and Ingebrigsten) cross the line into arrogance.
0 -
You wouldn't question it from a sprinter.

Mahuchikh a different class in the high jump.

Speaking of confidence, I loved Usain Bolt but the one thing I hated was all the pre race posing to the camera, largely because every other sprinter started copying him. You can get away with it if you are Bolt, but when you do it and then come fifth you just look like a nob

Sounds like the US swimmers (and USADA) and Adam Peaty don't believe in the Chinese swimming performances.
21 failed tests around Tokyo, was largely covered up, and 11 have swam in Paris, many winning medals.
See Peaty's post relay comments....

Someone should just do a wank sign, and that would put a stop to it.

The Canadian guy that won gold in the hammer throw looked like he had forgotten his kit and had to go to Sports Direct to buy a vest and some shorts.
2 -
Yeah, I don't care if he's British I'd like to see them both fail and someone else win.

Anybody but the cocky Yanks and Jamaicans.

Great 100m final, shame Lyles came through (just to answer the query on whether my arrogance prejudice applies to sprinters too)
0 -
You must love Noah Lyles then!
I can’t help but think that the Andrew Lloyd Webber production from the French had a marginal effect on that 100 metres.

wow, poor start for Lyles but his turbo is something else! Respect.

Ha ha, see above! I don’t mind a bit of Bolt style show boating but less keen on the Ali style ‘I am the greatest’ (unless you’re Ali of course)

Carl Lewis's PB would have put him 7th in that race.
The Brits get excited if we have someone who goes sub 10s. We shouldn't, not these days.
0 -
But Usain Bolt has run faster on 10 occasions.
0 -
Tough on the Jamacian in second. That was very close!

My interest level has increased 1000% now the athletics are rounding off each evening.
Better yet, the track cycling joins the party from tomorrow.

The not-yet-British boxer looks pretty useful. Typical that the only British based boxer to do anything so far is prevented from representing the country due to the snail pace asylum process.

One of the people who came through the club with the younger members of your lot is in the sprint squad (she used to come to the Saturday morning sessions when I helped coach and I rode with her dad back when I was originally in the club).

I saw Laura Kenny predicting 8 golds for GB. I can't help but feel this is a touch optimistic.

While he could represent either, golf in Ireland is organised on an all-island basis (as per swimming, gymnastics, boxing, rugby - their governing bodies predating partition) so he'd possibly be more inclined to represent Ireland having come through that setup
Previously he didn't want the hassle of having to pick British or Irish for a tournament he didn't place any value in. He seems to have changed his mind having watched other golfers enjoying the Olympic experience
ETA I'd say a weekend spend with Shane Lowry as your teammate would be fun
