Vingers gained on Pog on the technical bit of the descent but lost time on the pedalling bit, which suggests to me it’s a leg problem not a frightened problem.
Not much a fan of the “I expected to lose time” chat. You’re here to win, even if the build up has been really tough for you.
Can’t fault his recovery to get to the race, don’t get me wrong, I’m not sure I’d even pedal a bike a full year after something that horrific, but come on Jonas.
The long run is made up of a lot of short runs.

Definitely a leg problem (though there were also questions about whether it might have been an equipment issue with riding a 1x and not having the gears - doubt it though), and as he pointed out, Pog has a little more help from gravity on that section
Of course he's here to win, but that doesn't make him magicly able to do so. He came to the race knowing Pog would throw the kitchen sink at him early on (Madiot - "It'll be over in the first 4 days") and knowing that he needed to hang on and survive that and try and build form for the third week. It's what he's doing, it's what he says he's doing, it seems to be going OK so far, though nobody knows whether he'll come good at the end, or whether he'll have a team that can help him if he does. The places he's lost time are those where Pog is expected to be stronger anyway. I have no idea what you want him to say. "It's shit, I expected to be half an hour up by now, I'm chucking it in to go stage hunting"?
