I think Cofidis see him as a direct replacement for Simon Geschke, i.e. someone who can ride a couple of GTs for them each season and be visible in the mountains.

It's probably been mentioned already, but the Bettiol move is from today, not just next season. They're desperate for some points, they're in 21st position, nearly 3,500 behind 18th placed DSM on the three year ranking for WT places in 2026
