Ah now, there's a way of avoiding the 'kin annoying spams. Don't click on Discussions = get everything inc the spambot shite but go Categories route... 🤔

Yeah, there are about four or five bots active now, each one spamming 2-3 minutes continuously. Unbelievable that site admin have boogered off completely.

I've just emailed news@bikeradar.com and forumhelp@bikeradar, but 'amusingly', the latter bounced back as undeliverable. Ace. Take a holiday, guys.

I’ve just bookmarked the categories I use (just Cake Stop and Pro Race) so that explains why I haven’t seen them. Have seen a few recently in a range of languages offering to sell me fake money. Not sure why I would want to use real money to buy the fake stuff!

One of the new spambots actually is called Viagra-something, with three whole pages of new posts on the 'Discuss the forum website with the team' thread. At this point, the incompetence of the admins is so total it's hilarious.

Tried PMing George Scott & Jack Luke who started the latest forum maintenance (aka forum clusterfuck) thread, and no dice, the PMing function not working for them.
I guess that if their houses caught fire on a Friday night, they'd call the fire brigade on Monday morning, and would leave their mobiles switched off to stop any disturbance over the weekend.

Seems a bit of an extreme comment, given it's relating to a free forum that has a small handful of regular posters!

It’s slightly ironic how easily these spammers manage to get set up when looking back at hard it was to get my account working again after the reboot.

I assume that the new spambots are all from the same source, not they've twigged that there's no spam protection. Either that, or other spammers detect the spamming activity and home in on an unprotected site. It won't be long before there are more spam posts than posts in the Brexit thread.

it's an off the shelf forum package, lots of sites using it means opportunity for spammers, spambots can use exactly the same approach across every forum using vanilla, just use a search engine to find them in bulk and start spamming
for instance...
https://forum.linuxfoundation.org/
https://cb.vanillacommunity.com/
https://www.theoryland.com/forums/ at least this one tweaked the colours
etc.
presumably the br config isn't doing these things...

You used to be able to click on a username and see all their recent posts. That would make it much easier to bulk flag them but you can't even do that anymore.

I can on a PC but can't on my phone. Once into the user you could flag without going into each post, but only if they've already been flagged.

Looks like all the spam has gone now.

Oh no, has Rick been banned?

Not sure that even decent forum software has a 'Boomerbollox' filter...

If "Leftiebollox" is sentiment you deem to be generally anti Conservative, what is Boomerbollox?
You risk getting 80% of the remaining members banned!

- Dolan Tuono0 -
Avocado snowflake stuff presumably.

Hi everyone,
I've posted this elsewhere but, in case it's missed,I have, this morning, deleted most if not all of the recent spam, and banned the associated users. I have also implemented a couple of additional sign-up measures in order to (try and) avoid future spam attacks.
All the best, thanks for sticking with us through this!
George

They don't?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0
