Rumour is Farage is going to announce he's standing in the election for Reform.
Which would be a Tory **DISASTER**

Stand against Lettucehead Truss?

Hahaha - the big announcement is that Farage is going to be leader of Reform.
I wonder how much he's fleecing Tice for.

He is standing - Clacton.
He's got a good chance of winning. He must be getting an absolute stack of cash for this.

so he was lying when he said he was off to the usa to get his criminal chum re-elected, but then he always was untrustworthy, no doubt he'll get disproportionate media attention yet again

Keeping his options open until the last possible moment + giving it a bit of 'reluctant public servant' gloss. (Ahem).

I guess it's always possible to see the positive in anything.

Never really made sense to me why Tice was leader and not him...
I wonder if someone will be able to produce a poll where reform overtake the Tories.

Must say, a UK Geert Wilders type in Parliament does not fill me with much hope in general. I've seen how that eventually goes...
I would rather Farage f*cks off to America, even if it helps the Tories be mildly more competitive.

Very mature campaigning by the Lib Dems 🙂

Agree with Rick on that point, the man is absolute poison. The only person I know in Clacton is definitely stupid enough to vote for him. Some years ago he was ranting at me about illegal immigrants claiming all the benefits and taking jobs, the more he carried on it became apparent he was moaning about economic migrants from within the EU. He finished his rant with "if It carries on I'm moving to France" and couldn't see the irony when i pointed out that was exactly what he was moaning about.

On the upside, if I recall correctly the far right are less popular amongst young people in the UK than elsewhere in Europe.
Unfortunately, I think there's an open opportunity for the far right to appeal to young people in this country, I just don't think Farage and Friends are the ones to mobilise it.

Awwww 😥 Given he was doing pratfalls off paddle board last week this is quite subtle. Also harder to get the Phil Mitchell lookalike to stand in front of moving boat.

I guess the Fib Dums feel that they have nothing to lose. Which in terms of seat numbers, is not too far off the truth 😀

Any thoughts on what exactly you think we, but not you, should be worried about?

I don't know any Cassandras...
I think you know as well as I do that Labour have been very careful not to 'scare the horses' and to appear that they are occupying the centre ground. However from what we can see of their plans so far, it would indicate that they will make it more expensive and more difficult to run a business. Workers rights and their chumminess with the unions are one likely area and tax another. We will need to wait and find out exactly how their version of fairness translates to pain for many of us.

What about the last 5 years makes you this lot have made it easier to do business, stopped the country being held to ransom by strikes or kept tax low?

Sorry, obscure reference: mythological prophetess cursed with being able to see the future but never believed.
There are no unions in architecture. Someone tried it on at one practice and it was met with amusement. I'd read that the Workers rights thing had already been watered down to the point that Unions had to be placated. In any case we aim to do a bit better than the bare legal minimum for our employees, so it's unlikely to be an issue for us or the businesses we work with.
Business taxes have already been jacked up. They might go up a bit more but it's going to be marginal likewise regulation is something we've already been absolutely clobbered with. It's still pretty marginal compared with the jump in interest rates robbing clients of their budgets.

Extraordinary

The horses in this instance are the press.
Honestly though, I think Corbyn could actually win this election if he was still leader, the Tories are so bad.

Is it a realistic proposition that Farage can be the leader of the opposition some time down the road?
0 -
Who knew the national service idea was also just broadly unpopular.
National Service: it led to a more negative perception of the Conservatives with all voters, with 32% saying it had a more negative impact on their view than a positive one (23%). It was only *net neutral* for those Tories who now say they don’t know, pushed switchers further to Labour, and only marginally helped with Con-to-Reform switchers

He's already 60 and not exactly close to the top of the list at the moment, so not likely imo.

On the no side, I don't think they will win enough seats that Farage will be able to put pressure on the conservatives for that to happen. He also loses his USP if he goes to a mainstream political party. Plus leader of the opposition is quite a hard full time job and I suspect it would knacker him (although surprisingly, he's younger than Starmer)
On the yes side, the conservatives are a complete cluster fuck at the moment.

Both in their governing and campaigning skills, they never seem to miss an opportunity to screw things up spectacularly.

From the person who felt chasing Rayner for alleged offences that, even if proven would have been too late to charge, was good tactics by the Tories
