    Strong break

    Mmmmm.

Strong for the first rolling 60kms, but a bit light on proper climbers for the mountains.
Not that it matters. If it doesn't break up on the Aspin, it's sure to on the Tourmalet.

True ... Powless to bridge though

GC group to come back looks likely I agree

Think the five will get across now - the lead group started to take gels etc a few minutes ago, so presumably got the message that things had calmed down behind.

Am excited to see what Wout can do again today, if he can recover from yday.

He's never won an actual MTF you know....

But I'm all in on him being the springboard for Jonas to attack on Tourmalet and put ten minutes into the entirre GC

Honestly, I'm just here for the entertainment. The sort of stage wrecking ride he does everyday where he goes for the win and helps Vingers out at the back end if that doesn't work out is just super exciting to watch.

If MvdP has a pretty decisive edge over WvA in the classics, WvA's recovery in the Tour and his ability to blow the race up on stages where he is 15kg too heavy is just a step above.

Have never been the biggest GT van versus one dayers, but he's making the Tour more enjoyable than any other racing month in the year for me.

Oh he's absolutely great entertainment value. Last year he had all of Denmark on tenterhooks if he was going to be the egoistic villain or the loyal hero (yeah, poor Rolf Sørensen was so nervous he got massively conservative and really couldn't see what Wout might be doing, and when Rolf gets nervous, so does the whole country...).

This year everyone is far more relaxed, the whole "should Jonas have closed?" thing was exclusively in the Belgian media, we all shrugged and said "no, of course not, he's riding GC, don't be daft". The idea that might be an issue within the team was well overhyped - we remember Jonas gifting him a TT and making him blub!

But a lot of that entertainment comes not just from Wout himself, but from the fact that Jumbo-Visma, previously more conservative than Sky/Ineos, are apparently happy to use him to launch really aggressive GC attacks

Weird, you'd think they'd give them a bit more leeway. Alaphillipe is closest on over 7 minutes. They risk UAE or Jumbo going hard and brining bonus seconds into play

21kmph up the Aspin, JFC. I remember going into the red trying to get my speed into double digits. Mistake.

Aspin is quite an easy hill - not that high and shallow vs Tourmalet!

    So a Tourmalet-let?
