Not sure this is the time to tell us you like an eton mess, Carlton. There's a bike race going on.

In fairness to Carlton, that first roundabout created a bit of a sketchy moment then as the field narrowed from ten to five abreast.

Cavendish ended up well out of position in that, but made up a lot of ground. Interesting...

    Looks like a review.....

It has been a pet hate of mine that they only punished Groenewegen because it ended badly and riders have been doing similar for a long time, so let's see.

They relegated Skjelmose yesterday, so they're definitely a bit pickier this year

I suspect Cav will be working his way into the race day by day, his legs will be relatively tired from the previous two days in all likelihood.

A couple of flat stages to test the legs but not go 100% full gas, and then probably target 3 or 4 specific stages to try and get that win.

He's also got to suss out with the help of Renshaw and his team what exactly his lead out train, such as it is, can actually do for him, or whether he is going to have to go and surf the wheels, and if so at what point he does so.

I think they will be using these number of stages to analyse the options post stage, and try and put a plan in place for later in the tour - key of course that he also stays upright.

I thought he looked good today, near the sharp end, but certainly did not appear to be a full gas effort.

I reckon tomorrow will be another fact finding finish for them, and then they will look to target stage 7 if his legs are ok from the previous days climbing, but I reckon 8 and 18, or more likely 19 are prime targets - I really hope he gets the win before stage 21.
