ITTs started today, although the majority of them will take place tomorrow.

Josh Tarling (Ineos) smashed the GB field by over a minute to take the skinsuit. G was a non-starter.
Lizzie Holden won the women's race.

Tarling was saying on Watts Occuring that he was aiming for it.

Had a WhatsApp group called "Operation White Shorts" apparently

Does that explain why G and the Hayters didn't ride?

Incidentally, he also said that he went for the elite instead of U23 because he didn't think it was fair he had support from Ineos while most U23 had very little

He has a point - Ineos had about 10 members of staff for each rider today!
Felt sorry for Fred and Dan Bigham as they had long lonely waits to start ,(as so many pulled out).
Fred was very magnanimous and said there was no way he could have got that minute back on the very flat course. He wished there had been a short climb. So another of his second places unfortunately.
Weather forecast for Sunday has changed for the worse.

G is still in Giro-recovery mode and then building for the worlds. E.Hayter broke his collarbone recently.

Because they were originally on the start list, but withdrew.

Josh can climb as well. So wouldn't necessarily have changed anything...

Slovenia TT course is the same (uphill) course as 2020 when Pog (on road bike with normal helmet) beat Rog (full TT getup) by 8 seconds with nobody else anywhere. Is it odd to have a TT champs where you might choose not to use a TT bike?

Red Walters, one of the very talented local riders who is based just up the road from me in Hampshire, has retained his road and TT Grenada national titles won last year.

You probably know this already, but a time trial is about getting to the finish in the shortest possible time, not about which bike you ride.. ;)

How unusual is it to have it as a hill climb? I can't see a Italy, France or Spain one any time recently where the average speed is 30kmh.

It feels weird to have a TT champs that isn't a contest for the TT specialists.

    Evenepoel goes into a ditch.

Might still come second behind Van Aert. Top 5 anyway.

    Looks alright eh?

    Or just a better tailwind

If it's exactly the same course, that is really impressive. Tailwind could be the culprit, that's definitely true.

Asgreen takes the DK TT champs - his 4th.

Also, M.u.f.f. and Wang both in the top 10, for any 14yr old boys / kindred spirits

It's ok, when I was 14 I was too busy getting over the fact that Hank Pfister never seemed to get a mixed doubles partner.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

The three u23 world champs wins in a row certainly suggest he should. I think he's maybe focused his training too much on being a good domestique to really hit the TT heights, but then again, he took his first pro TT win this year at last. He's just missing that last step up.
