Probably the one I listened to most with the lights out in my teenage pit was Fade To Black
And for something more ballad like, Nothing Else Matters
Good song, and there's the tragedy of war which is right miserable.
Song about trains, need I say more.
Always loved this one.
Warning - does have some uplifting parts
It's really worth a listen though - hear how he uses some really discordant harmonies to heighten the pain & death... it's just the most extraordinary thing, even if it hasn't got a disco beat.
Probably the most depressing song I’ve ever heard but not one I like is The Boy That Santa Claus Forgot. The first time I heard it I was waiting the uplifting happy ending (spoiler - it never comes!)
Didn't his wife, seen in video, June Carter pass away about 3 months after the filming? And the man himself just a few months later?
Velvet Underground aren't particularly miserable.
