For reference here are some notes I took to know what is what.

Distance, av %, peak %, ascent, previous time at 3 w/kg average.

    Gran Sasso - 34.5 kms, 3%, 14% 1115m, 1:34:19
    Grand St Bernard - 39 kms, 5%, 11%, 2000m, 2:24:12
    Tre Cime di Lavaredo - 22.5 kms, 6%, 16%, 1314m, 1:31:02
    Passo Giau - 32.3 kms, 3%, 12%, 1046m, 1:23:32
    Passo Valparola - 15.2 kms, 5%, 12%, 801m, 0:55:20
    Monte Bondone - 19.2 kms, 8%, 14%, 1449m, 1:37:18
    Simplon Pass - 23.6 kid, 6%, 10%, 1337m, 1:33:22
    Crans-Montana - 19.4 kms, 5%, 14%, 938m, 1:06:21.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

St Bernard is long… I should know as I come from round there… never cycled up it, not a nice climb with heavy traffic

Annoyingly, the route record is doable... but I need to keep a lid on it, as I have a TT on Boxing day!

Just checking back on Strava, 282 watt average was good for 49 minutes. Probably eased off on the downhill at the end.

Done the route a few times in real life. Stunning road. Think I prefer the Falzarego climb from the South though as it's a lot quieter.

Nice one Ugo. Knew you'd kick on that steep ramp but couldn't do much about it. Was 330-340 watts all the way up that section but you were pulling away.

I was doing about the same, works out 5W/kg for me… 🥵

Footage was a bit.. meh… and the gradients went up in big steps, not the best route

Thought you must have a bit of a weight advantage.

Not the best video like you say. Doesn't really do it justice.

I'll freewheel back down and meet you at the 3 Michelin star in San Cassiano for a spot of lunch...

Going to give the TT a miss, too cold outside… was supposed to be 5 degrees, but it’s 2 at the moment.
So that means I’ll be up the Crans Montana slopes around 9 am, if anyone wants to join

Couldn't make it this morning - had Mrs B's parents staying last night so wasn't allowed to disappear into the garage this morning.

May be around tomorrow - what's the plan?

I'm thinking that I'm out. Christmas Day and New Years were always non starters making it a challenge but now today is a non starter making it nigh on impossible.

Was thinking St Bernard… might decide to start a bit later, it’s going to be cold first thing and my outbuilding is not heated.
Probably sticking to 3W/kg all the way… it’s a long long climb.

Am liking the look of those, except Bondone that looks a tough one and Simplon which is long.
Might be having a bash at this but can't see me getting the lot.

I'd be up for that, although 9am start would be preferable.

Should have been riding that road in the other direction as part of the Tour de Mont Blanc Cyclo event a couple of years ago but it was cancelled due to Covid.

    Alright then.. 9 AM is.

I had a friend who did the TdMB a few times, John Parkin, he even wrote a blog about it… sadly he took his own life a few years ago… incredibly sad story…

Well, I managed to squeeze in a sneaky wee Valparola.
Still well off the pace to complete though.

Yeah but... Saint-Bernard is going to be tough to negotiate hogging the living room and TV for 2 hours. Maybe an expensive sales day out might work. 🤣

No, just taking a look at the app now. Downloaded so need to pick a route and get set up. Might have done some on Bkool which might give me an idea of how long they'll take.

See the times in my post at the top of this page for a reference.
